Sarah Palin: The Dumbing Down of the American Woman
Many Years of Progress and Advancement Out the Window!
As a baby boomer and woman, I have spent many years trying to get on a level ground with the men of my generation. The perception of a woman from the point of view of men and the others who have been allowed to put us in our place all of these years, has been that we were not worth the same as a man, that we had our place and that we should realize we were only good for two things, sex and having and rearing children.
On Aug. 26, 1920, the 19th Amendment granted the ballot to American women. The women who fought to achieve the "Right to Vote" for women, suffered more than we could possibly know. From Susan B. Anthony to Hillary Clinton, women across America has fought against being treated like they were less of a human than men. They have endured public ridicule and have been beaten and mistreated because they felt women should be recognized for their intelligence and their ability to be just as capable as anyone else.
Millions of women have fought to be something other than a "sex" object or a "ditsy" female.
When John McCain chose Sarah Palin to be VP, he wasn't picking her because she was so intelligent or good at her job. Even though she has done so noteworthy things and has appeared to be tough and all of the other hype they have given us, she was picked because she was "FEMALE" McCain recognized the potential to obtain the "Vagina" vote by pulling Hillary supporters.
Having said that, here is the result of his choice.
I have tried to be open minded about Sarah Palin. She is beautiful and at first glance appears to be intelligent. Watching her in the few interviews she has done and on the infamous debate, I have been appalled at her lack of knowledge and her self-proclaimed, "flippant" attitude. Her portrayal of a potential VP has been an absolute failure.
When you watch "ANY OTHER" woman who has obtained the recognition that Sarah Palin has in this election, their demeanor is one of professionalism and desire to appear to be strong and knowledgeable. Hillary has stood in front of the America public on many occasions and I have never seen her wink at the camera even once.
Sarah Palin is destroying the hard earned ground that millions of women in this country have suffered for. She is standing in front of the American public and winking and making cute little smiles and faces and spouting stuff from her mouth that makes even the dumbest woman say, "What?"
First of all, she wants America to respect her, but everything from her mouth is a contradiction. She tells Joe Biden to stop talking about the history of George Bush, but she will not go for one public appearance without attacking something in the other parties past.
She stood there at the debate and used her "womanly wiles" to woo America. She winked, and made all of those "folksy" quips and quotes and had every man who thinks with his lower brain, oozing and slobbering all over themselves.
Is that really what we want in the White House? Years and Years of scratching and struggling for millions of women to get to the level of being considered equal to a man, in one fell swoop, Sarah Palin is destroying every single second of that struggle.
She is not trying to LEAD America, she is trying to "woo" America. Hillary Clinton is a leader. Democrat or Republican, no one can deny that Hillary had a brain. She wasn't trying to charm us, she was trying to inform us. As a Republican, I still have great respect and admiration for what Hillary has accomplished. Diane Feinstein of California and Nancy Pelosi are just a few in the Government in Washington now.
There have been many great women in government over they years, starting with Republican Representative Hazel Abel who served in the Eighty Third Congress, Paula Hawkins, Republican Senator from Florida who served in the 80's and Democrat Louise Slaughter from New York.
There are hundreds of women in the Congress and Senate who have worked very hard to achieve a level playing field between them and their male counterparts. They have done whatever it took to earn the respect of the men.
Women across this great country have worked hard to achieve that level. They have done jobs that men do, they have taken on the responsibilities of men, and they have continued to struggle to be recognized for their efforts. Yet they have continued to be treated differently. They are still not paid equally.
Sarah Palin's portrayal of a woman in government is a farce. She is "dumbing down" the American Woman. She is setting the efforts of all of those struggles back to the time before women could do anything. She is saying that we should forget about being intelligent and knowledgeable and just do what women who lack those skills have done for years.
Act cute, flirt, wink and say funny quotes and you can get anywhere. All of those women that struggled daily to make themselves "NOT" that kind of woman are being mocked. They are being made to look stupid now. If Sarah Palins behavior can get you to the office of being in charge of the biggest country in the world, why worry about an education?
Just be sexy and wink at the men and you will be fine.
I would venture to say, that women like Susan B. Anthony are turning over in their graves right about now. Women in this country should be mad as hell with John McCain and Sarah Palin. She has made all of us look 'STUPID" She has not only continued to act like she has no brain of her own, but she continues to try and convince us that she cares about us. The slightest notion that she could even walk on the same street with Hillary Clinton is funny.
The same woman who "stopped" the women in her town of Wasilla from getting the rape kits needed to prove this heinous act, unless they paid for them themselves. She doesn't believe in abortion even in the case of rape or incest. Does she really represent the American Woman?
Can she even comprehend what you and I have fought for? She hasn't shown us that she can do anything that would benefit this country. She is dumbing us down America. She is taking away the rights and efforts that we have fought so hard and long for. She is setting women's rights back to the beginning.
Do you want to be respected as a woman or lusted after until you are used up? Sarah Palin wants the latter. Why else would she be winking at America? That was the result, not respect and admiration. The comments were scathing. The Democratic Rep from Ohio and others made it known that none of her actions or comments did anything to solve the problems this country is facing. Ohio is sinking and they want answers, not folksy crap.
America's women need to tell Sarah Palin, we don't want a sex symbol in the White House. We want a leader. Woman or man. It has to be a leader.

Post a CommentExcellent, excellent article!
If he wanted to bring in the female vote, he should have chose Condi. Even if she is Bush with XX chromosomes, she's much more intelligent than Sarah or even McCain could be. As to Sarah, she was the best thing to ever happen to Obama. ;)
I forgot her statement about "A place is reserved in hell for women who don't support her"...Yea that is caring about women.
Ouchers! Keep these coming Rose!
