Sarah Palin Hand Notes Serve as Cheat Sheet for Palin Tea Party Speech; Hand Notes Become Late Night Joke

Sarah Palin is Receiving a Lot of Grief for Writing Notes on Her Hand Before a Paid Speech

Ryan Christopher DeVault
Sarah Palin hand notes are the talk of the political world. Sarah Palin wrote notes on her hand to use it as a cheat sheet (or crib notes) while she was giving a speech on Saturday. The speech was for the Tea Party Convention, in which she was paid $100,000 to give the keynote. She was probably exactly what the attendants wanted to hear, as she preached to talking points that she had written on her hand. In an interview that she sat down to give, it also became glaringly obvious that she was referring to her hand when trying to remember what she should say. Now she is getting a lot of flak for needing to write the notes on her hand, and the Sarah Palin hand notes are turning into a huge joke.

So what exactly was it that Sarah Palin had to write on her hand that she couldn't remember? How about energy, tax cuts, and lift American spirit. Yep, those are some very difficult talking points to remember, especially when you aren't coming up with them yourself, but rather trying to sound like you are against anything the current administration supports. This was a forum that should have been the easiest thing ever for Sarah Palin, as she was being paid to simply come and be a keynote speaker for a group of people that were already supporting her. Not only that, but the crowd was probably going to be supportive of anything that she had to say.

The one thing that stands out from Palin's presentation, yes even more than the hand notes, is that she attacked President Obama for using a teleprompter. Well if you are going to attack someone else for using notes, it's important to not seem hypocritical when making statements like that. Sometimes it's necessary to read a speech when you don't have time to memorize it, and that is what someone like the President often has to do. This isn't new for Obama or any recent President, and isn't something that needs to be attacked. As for writing notes on your hand that you need to talk about lowering taxes and promoting new energy sources? My friend's five year old could do that.

The critics here show how childish and petty people can be. Obama does basically the same thing with his expensive teleprompters when he is out campaigning in his "57 states" Grow up/

Dear Sarah Palin, If God didn't want you to use both of your hands, then why did he create us with two. I have written notes on my hands many times and you will find that many busy people do that. Gibb's mocking you was extremely tacky. You are definitely getting to them. Keep up the good work.

A SUCCESSFUL SPEAKER WILL JOT DOWN 'WORDS' TO JOG THE MEMORY OF THE VARIOUS TOPICS IN PRIORITY THAT NEED TO BE COVERED...ONCE COVERED SO AS NOT TO BORE PEOPLE YOU CAN CROSS OUT THOSE TOPICS (budget) THAT YOU FEEL YOU HAVE GOTTEN YOUR POINT ACROSS. It is a pneumonic tactic used by great speakers who want to stay on topic. It is not like reading word for word off two teleprompters in an Elementary Classroom full of kids like Obama! Nor is it just four words she has to memorize...like what idiots you are to think that. Did you not hear her speech? If you want to mock someone ..mock the Harvard Law graduate that cannot remember how many states are in the US.!...

the problem lies in the fact that she bashed Obama for doing something she does herself.besides energy, lift american spirits, budget cuts, how could you forget that.especially if those are traits a conservative leader like herself should have

Check out the president addressing the GOP last week - no teleprompter, no hand notes, no problem. Almost 2 hours.

I can't even believe someone took the time to write this. She wasn't being a hypocrite, she was calling out the hypocrisy of the left. Get your head out of your other end and say something worthwhile.

How is this relevant? At least she writes her own speeches unlike Obama and his teleprompter.

Every college level public speaking course will suggest keeping and following notes. Most suggest note cards or an outline though...apparently she forgot her stack of 3x5's. But seriously...is this all the better you can do? How do these few words compare with reading an entire speech off a teleprompter? She spoke for quite a while and had what, five words scribbled on her hand? Obama even uses TP's (a fitting abbreviation, no?) for press conferences, with a team of wordsmiths and spin masters in the background keeping him on point and "eloquent". Actually I think that is an excellent approach if you want to come off as slick and polished...it just is not early as HONEST as doing a little bit of stumbling. But as a media based society we are hooked on the instant, polished, response...and to hell with a real, truthful, shoot from the hip answer. For example...how often do we see our illustrious VP in front of the camera these days. I trust him though, because he says what he f

Get over it already. Obama, Clinton, Bush, Bush2, even Reagan the actor all read their speeches off of a teleprompter. Fine. It's a fricking fact of political life. If she can go from a couple of notes on her hand, more power to her.

This is about the DUMBEST gripe I've heard from either side...EVER...and that is saying something. Get past it and deal with some REAL issues.
