Sarah Palin Vs Hillary Clinton in 2012?

The Hypothetical Question of an All Female Presidential Race in 2012 or 2016

Sarah Palin vs. Hillary Clinton in 2016?

Before unveiling Sarah in 2008 as the Republican vice Presidential Nominee she was a virtually unknown entity, at least nationally, except in Alaska where she had been elected as Governor in 2006. Her nomination caused quite a scramble for information, some of which was aimed at her as an attempt to discredit her ability. In her acceptance speech, Sarah Palin stepped forth nationally with a glaringly obvious ability to take care of herself. Not only was she able to accept the national stage light, she could hold it on her own. Definitely no mere milksop politically propped up candidate here!

Now begs the question, what about the Presidential race in 2012 or 2016? If Sarah can stay atop the popularity avalanche she currently enjoys and circumstances demand it, how would Sarah Palin stand up in a presidential race against Hillary Clinton?

Both are obviously strong willed women, both have qualifications, and both have the political clout of their parties behind them. Yes we all know Obama beat out Hillary in 2008 for nomination but would he still be viable against Sarah Palin? Just for the sake of argument lets say the Democrats didn't think so. This is hypothetical after all.

Sarah would still have all the baggage she carried in 2008, the bridge, and the ex-brother in law, etc. But Hillary would still have her own retinue of Samsonite trundling along behind, Bill of course, White water, and so on and so on.

Hillary has one child, Sarah five.

Hillary was a lawyer then Senator, Sarah a mayor then Governor.

Sarah took on the Alaskan State budget and reduced it noticeably; Hillary once tried to balloon the federal budget with a health care package that was stuck down.

Sarah is an effective speaker, but then so is Hillary.

Hillary stated that nukes should be an option concerning Iran trying to form a "tough" stance to bolster her image where military concerns occurred. Anyone with an ounce of common sense, Sarah Palin included knows this was seriously downplayed for it was a gross error in judgment, one which undoubtedly cost her dearly in her campaign against Obama one of many; Sarah is seeing one of her sons leave for Iraq, a sizeable difference.

Sarah Palin has a charisma public presence; Hillary is down a few points here.

I would have to assume it would above all be an interesting race, watching two Barracudas in the same tank will remind all of us to not try feeding the frenzy and keep your fingers clear at all times.

Hey Thomas, good article. I've written about Sarah Palin a few times as well; she definitely has a sort of appeal which is hard to define. In a Hillary vs. Palin race, I see it swinging Hillary's way unless Sarah Palin has a dramatic upsurge in public opinion over the next four years. Right now she seems too inexperienced and kinda gimmicky. Just my two cents.
