Sarah Palin's Biggest Problems - Where is She by the Way?

Censorship, Abuse of Power, Pray Out the Gay

Louisa Burgess
Sarah Palin is hiding. It's a fact. Joe Biden, Barack Obama and John McCain all give interviews. So far Palin has avoided them, officially, not by accident. That is her biggest problem to date in my eyes, because well If she's not ready for the big time interview than how can she be ready to be a heartbeat away from the Oval Office? And I mean that sincerely. Where is she and why is she hiding from the press?

According to AP reporter Sara Kugler today in "Palin Sticks to Script on Campaign Trail" anything talked about on the vice-presidential candidate's plane is strictly "off the record." Kugler also reports that McCain campaign manager Rick Davis has said that Palin will "agree to an interview when we think it's time and when she feels comfortable doing it." Palin is scheduled to talk with a "hand-picked" interviewer for ABC later this week. If you don't find this tight handling of the GOP's Veep candidate unusual, I do. Unusual and indicative of a candidate ill prepared to hold the second highest office in the land.

So what do you think Sarah is hiding? There are so many issues that could be considered controversial where she is concerned. Her biggest problems, from where I sit are three: her attempts at censorship and disregard for the First Amendment of our Constitution; abuse of power; and last but not least, pray out the gay.

Sarah Palin's disregard for the First Amendment became crystal clear back when she was Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska. According to internet rumor and a letter that has been circulating by a woman claiming to be an old friend of hers, Anne Kilkenny, Sarah Barracuda, attempted to fire the city librarian after she asked if she would be willing to censor or pull books if asked and received a negative reply. This is all documented in the Anchorage Daily News on September 9, 2008 and in articles found in the New York Times and other respected news outlets. By the way, the librarian kept her job. Nonetheless, Palin seems to have an issue with freedom of speech.

Palin's brother-in-law Alaska State Trooper Mike Wooten appeared on CNN recently. He is part of the so called "trooper-gate" investigation that has been brought about to determine if Governor Palin abused the power of her office to push the Public Safety Commissioner to fire Mike Wooten. The Wootens apparently were undergoing a difficult divorce and custody battle at the time. The Public Safety Commissioner was fired. Why? We don't know yet.

The religious beliefs of Presidents has always been of interest to Americans. This election year in particular, both the Democrats and Republicans appeared on one or more "faith" based forums to discuss their beliefs under questioning. However, according to the NY Times on September 5th, 2008, "Maria Comella, a spokeswoman for the McCain-Palin campaign, said Ms. Palin had been baptized Roman Catholic as an infant, but declined to comment further."We're not going to get into discussing her religion," she said." What we do know is that the Palins attend the Wasilla Bible Church which is nondenominational. We have heard that the congregation leans toward the conservative and sometimes beyond. According to the same NY Times article, "the church has also come under fire among some gay advocacy groups for promoting an upcoming Focus on the Family conference in Anchorage dealing with the so-called curing of homosexuality." Consequently praying out the gayness of folks has become a problem, and in my opinion one of the biggest problems for Sarah Palin.

There are many more rumors and potential problems I have a feeling, so where are you Sarah Palin?

Where is Sara Palin? She's busy killing innocent animals and raping the environment. This ignorant, cruel fool can not even stay on top of what is going on in her own home -- and she wants to run our country? Notice how she tries to gain sympathy for having a baby with Down Syndrome? She is so selfish! She could have used condoms but HAD to get pregant to milk public sympathy for being a "busy working mom of a retarded infant". I feel sorry for that poor kid. She uses him as a prop. She uses her husband as one as well-- he looks like such a yutz on the sidelines holding on to that kid for the cameras. UGH! They make me sick! NO THANKS! Good one, my sweet Louisa!

Ouch - yeah - "praying out the gays". if the church really said that - not good! For anyone who thinks being gay is wrong and fixable, then they should start praying He take the gay OUT of people! But praying out the gays is destructive language.

Oh, Sarah Palin will sit down with ABC's Gibson for an interview.

Louisa, you & I both know your article didn't fail and delivered your points quite well. Perhaps my passion over this Great Nation and desire to keep it that way generates a detectable tone. My point was not suggesting that you per se have forgiven or ignored Obama's controversial church. You have written that the a prayer Palin's church engaged in is one of her biggest problem...if that is the case than we obviously have to forgive the racist hate of Obama's church. The double standard in this campaign is astounding, that observation is independent of your content ( the pleasure of reading your work and correspondence proved to me how objective you can be) But this a race for the White House...And Palin's "controversies" pale in comparison to Obama's nefarious cohorts, radical voting record, and blasphemous religion....

"I think there is nothing wrong with praying FOR someone. But the phrase "Praying out the gay" is disturbing. I think the phrase has an implicit judgement. I'm willing to pray for anyone. But I try to let God do God's work. If you are Christian, then you recall that Jesus Christ once said "No one enters Paridise except through Me. I am the Gate." My interpretation is that it is Jesus's choice to allow someone into Heaven. And if Jesus decides that a gay person can enter Heaven, Jesus is right. Whatever God does is right simply because God does it!"

I agree with John's comments quoted above. I also think if Palen wants to pick who her first interview is with, then so be it. There will be plenty more to come.

If it weren't so tragic, the entrance of Sarah Palin in this crazy presidential campaign has been great comedy. Couldn't have been scripted better by SNL. I agree with Sofya that SP is setting women in politics way back, a hidden agenda by the elephants perhaps?
