Sarah Palin's Dress Size Vetted by Entertainment Tonight

Sarah Palin has certainly heated up the political scene this summer as Democrats and Republicans search for comprehensive knowledge about Palin's political record and beliefs. Democrats have sent operatives to Alaska, gathering information from Sarah Palin's allies and enemies. ABC's Charlie Gibson grilled Palin on a wide range of topics from the Bush Doctrine to energy policies. Talk show hosts debate the value of her past experience and discuss whether her role as a mother of five would interfere with her Vice Presidential duties.

But who would have thought that Sarah Palin's dress size would be the next big thing up for public discussion? Entertainment Tonight brought in their resident expert to "guess" the sizes of Sarah Palin, Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, and Cindy McCain. In case you were wondering, the experts think that Sarah Palin is a size 6, Hillary Clinton is a size 10, Michelle Obama is a size 8, and Cindy McCain is a svelte size 4.

And, of course, there was no mention of the pants sizes for John McCain, Barack Obama, or Joe Biden.

There is no doubt that Entertainment Tonight seeks to bring the lighter side to life, offering breezy pieces on celebrities and pop culture. With a struggling economy and a nation at war, we're all looking for interesting and newsy tidbits to add some excitement to our day. Combine that with a tight election and people are genuinely interested in learning more about the candidates and their families.

But when does this search for information become too intrusive, or even insulting? Did you consider Hillary Clinton's dress size when you made your primary voting decision? So many people talked about Hillary's pants suits during the election season, as if this mattered. But talking about a woman's appearance is an easy way to diminish her and her abilities. If a woman gets too powerful, talk moves to her dress size, hair style, glasses, or the color of her pants suits since that's easier for some men and women to deal with.

On the same day of airing, ET's competitor The Insider interviewed John McCain's daughter Meghan and Lara Spencer asked Meghan about her weight and how she felt about being "plus-size". Meghan displayed great confidence when she relayed how she felt great about how she looked and who she was. I was glad to see that Meghan McCain was so sure of herself in light of increasing media scrutiny.

Thankfully, Lara didn't ask Meghan what her dress size is.

Experts have historically misjudged women's dress sizes when they are as tall as Michelle Obama. An 8 is possible, but a 10 is just as likely.

Wow,...I DEFINITELY didn't have her pegged as a size 6!!!

This is a cool topic considering the "blood bath" of the campaigns, it needed a little lightening up. But I don't think ET got the dress sizes right! Cindy McCain looks like a 4 because she is so "skinny" poor doll, have you all seen her lately? looks like she's about to faint when she's with her husband. She looks very, very tired. I think she needs another french fry!
Hillary is NO 10, she's probably a 14-16; Palin is NO 8, cut me some slack! she's at least a 12-14, and MEGAN looks great at a size 16-18. That's not a PLUS size! a Plus size is 1X, 2X etc...

Dress size should have nothing to do with the campaign, but that being said there is no way that HIlary is a size 10. And Megan McCain is really not plus-sized. at least to me.
