Sarah Palin spoke up on video in response to the many accusations that have been leveled against both her and many Republicans and Tea Partiers. For some reason, she felt the need to post the video. She stated her heartfelt sorrow for the victims and the families. She went on to answer the charges that somehow she and others had caused this horrible crime. According to the video, in her statement, she blasts "journalists and pundits" for "manufacturing a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn." She adds, "That is reprehensible."
OK, so first of all, did she look up what the word "blood libel" meant? Undoubtedly, she did not. Just for clarification, here is the definition, according to encyclopedia2.thefreedictionary.com: Blood Libel-trials of Jews who allegedly murdered non-Jews for Passover blood. [Jew. Hist.: Wigoder, 95]
For months after Sarah Palin ran for Vice President, I thought to myself, "maybe I am not being fair. Maybe I wrote the article about her, without giving her the benefit of the doubt. I decided to watch and not criticize until I had more information. So now, it has been a couple of years. She has been a whirlwind of activity and has made numerous appearances and comments about any and everything in the world. Her book was a hit & she got rich from that. She has visited every talk show that would interview her to show she wasn't scared of them anymore. Her new reality show went for a minute and is now scheduled for extinction soon. She has taken full advantage of the American Dream. For many, she is only just getting warmed up. The anticipation of a surprising number of supposedly sane people, is, she will run for President in 2012.
For those people, I would say, come on, are you you serious? This joke has gone on for long enough. This tough talking, maverick, home grown Alaskan pioneer woman knows how to shoot anything, dogsled, fish, camp out in the cold, Alaskan wilderness and is really not a bad mom, but President? No thank you!
For her to come in public with this last statement, I would be willing to venture, anybody that was on the fence about her will drop off immediately. The so-so supporters may drag on for awhile, but I dare to say, they won't be far behind the fence straddlers. Sarah Palin has taken something that was so historically horrible and made it into a way to gain sympathy from her supporters. It is also a way for her to absolve herself of guilt and responsibility. It was blatantly apparent during the 2008 campaign. She incited violence over and over during her rallies. She never took responsibility for that.
Is America going to continue to champion this extremist celebrity? I stand for many Republican ideas and issues. I also stand as a Democrat that believes in President Obama and his Presidency. The Arizona tragedy may or may not have been fueled by bulls eye comments or cross hair photos, but how do we know? Sarah Palin has been irresponsible from the very beginning. Her "John Wayne", take no prisoners, attitude has fueled anger and intolerance and many more emotions from both civil individuals and people that are over the top. Jared Loughner is a sick person. He is responsible for his method of handling the rhetoric on TV.
I will never venture to doubt the intelligence and motive of Sarah Palin again. She stuck her face out there, trying to resolve herself, only to make a bigger fool than ever of herself. Her reference to "Blood Libel" was so far off base, it is sad she would pull that term out of her bag of non knowledge. She truly is an embarrassment to women in Government and women who are trying to truly be involved and strive to be intelligent. She has yet again, dumbed down the American Woman.
We can only hope she will fade away into Alaska sooner rather than later. Her supporters are truly grasping at straws, if they choose to continue to support this crazy woman. It would behoove them to "Get a life"!.
