Sarah Townsend, Missing Burlington County Girl, Found Dead

Abby Greenhill
Sarah Townsend went missing last Monday in Burlington County , New Jersey . She left for school as usual and as she did she told her parents, "Bye mum and dad, love you." Does that sound like a normal good-bye or was Sarah trying to send a message to her parents?

While police are saying they do not believe foul play occurred, they think there might be a possibility that Sarah planned to take her own life. Stranger things have happened. An otherwise upbeat and happy person can walk out of their front door and do the unthinkable. Was that the case here?

Sara went missing on Monday. Her car was found on Tuesday. A candlelight vigil was held on Wednesday. Sarah's parents offered a $10,000 reward. Her body was found on Friday.

There are no answers yet, hopefully when the autopsy is completed the family will have a better understanding of what happened to this beautiful young girl. The girl who had everything to look forward to, would she take her own life or did someone do this to her?

Sarah had plans to go to two proms. She had her dress and was in the process of deciding how to do her hair. Does that sound like someone who is considering taking her own life?

What role does her boyfriend, Matt Welsh, play in all of this? He is the one who found her purse and phone near the pond where her body was eventually found. Sarah's father is tired of people thinking Matt had anything to do with Sarah's death, according to Mail Online.

Sarah Townsend had plans for the future, besides going to two proms that is. She wanted to either go to nursing school or become a flight attendant. Her high school graduation would have been next month from Allentown High School . The school is planning a memorial service for Sarah on Monday. Now, instead of seeing their daughter graduate, her parents will plan her funeral. How sad for those who knew and loved her.

What happened to 18-year-old Sarah Townsend? Did she take her own life or was Matt Welsh somehow involved? It is hard to put yourself in the place where her parents must be right now. No parent expects to lose a child like this, but it happens every day unfortunately.

Rest in peace Sarah Townsend, rest in peace

Such a sad event. We had another suicide here in NY - a 23 year old - what could possibly go so wrong in such few years to make a young girl end her life? I don't understand it. cheers

This is such a bizarre story. The note, the running car, her cancelling a babysitting job.... I just don't get it.

(not a guest) I remember my senior year in high school, learning that a girl who I considered to be a friend and who was popular, beautiful, friendly – all the things that contributed to the image of a happy young girl – committed suicide shortly before graduation. I can't tell you how shocking it is to find somebody who appears to be happy suddenly gone due to taking her own life. Even today, when reunions come up, I still think of her. Rest in peace, Janice Broadway.
