Sarcasm and How it Made Us Miss a NFL Game
Make Sure You Have Your Tickets in Hand Before You Leave for a Game
My husband loves football. He had never been to a pro game, and a friend gave him tickets to the Jaguars game in Jacksonville. Not just tickets, but box seats and a premium parking pass. He was so excited.
I have been to a few pro games, but I was just as excited to go see another pro game.
We live about 2 hours away from Jacksonville, so we woke up that Sunday and got ready to leave. As we were walking out the door, he asked me if I had the tickets. I quickly told him no. The thing is, I am never in charge of holding tickets. Of all the sporting events and concerts we go to, it has always been his job to hold onto the tickets.
After I told him I didn't have the tickets, I asked him. He plainly told me no.
Well, apparently we both thought the other one was playing the sarcasm card.
We got on the road and started the two hour drive to Jacksonville. This was going to be such a great game! And box seats!!! How cool is that?
After riding for a couple of hours, we finally get through the traffic and arrive at the stadium. We make our way to the premium parking lot. We were stopped by an officer who asked us for our parking pass. My husband asked me to give it to him.
"I told you I didn't have the tickets," I said.
"WHAT do you mean, you don't have the tickets?" he replied.
I explained that I never hold tickets and that I was under the impression that he had been pulling my leg when he asked me earlier if I had them.
Do you know how awful it is to drive all that way, and find out that the tickets are sitting on the dining room table?
The drive back was a very quiet one. My husband was not very happy and we made it home in record time. He was able to get us back in time to see the last half of the game.
However, it was an ending that was memorable! It was the one game that the kicker missed the extra point. What a game to miss!
It took my husband close to a year to be able to laugh about the ordeal, although I believe that I still find it funnier than he does. And he has yet to see a pro game live.
Being one that enjoys scrapbooking, I will only be able to scrapbook the tickets. What could have been an entire mini book of our great experience, is now just a page in our year in review book.
I suppose I will buy tickets to a pro game eventually and take him.
Bottom line, ALWAYS check, and DOUBLE CHECK to make sure that you have everything you need before you embark on a journey that requires tickets for admission.
