Satellite Radio is a Sports Fan's Best Friend
No Matter What You Like, XM or Sirius is Bound to Have It
In my first AC article, Confessions of a Satellite Radio Junkie, I discussed the many benefits of being an XM Radio subscriber. In this article, I hope to show you specifically the benefits to the sports fan of subscribing to either XM or Sirius Satellite Radio.
If you're buying for a fan of baseball, hockey, golf, Indy racing, or certain NCAA conferences, XM is the way to go. XM is the exclusive home for major league baseball, the National Hockey League, the PGA, the IRL, and the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) of college football. XM also features play-by-play for many teams in the PAC-10, ACC, Big 10, Big 12, Big East, and SEC collegiate conferences for football and men's and women's basketball. Now, if you're a Boston College alumni living in Denver, you can still catch all of BC's football and basketball games. If you're an Oakland A's fan living in Miami, you can catch your team during baseball season. All of the play-by-play content is also great if you're a fan of many teams but live in a city where only one team's games are consistently aired on radio or TV for each sport.
If the person you're shopping for is more interested in the NFL, NBA, soccer, or NASCAR, Sirius would be the logical choice. Sirius Satellite Radio is the home to all of these sports, as well as several collegiate teams. With college sports, if it's not on XM, it's likely on Sirius.
Of course, play-by-play isn't the only advantage of satellite radio for a sports fan. There is also a constant variety of sports talk and news. Both services carry ESPN radio. Sirius has channels devoted exclusively to NFL and NASCAR talk. XM has channels devoted to NHL and MLB talk and news as well. XM also has XM Sports Nation, which features a variety of original programming focusing on all of the sports XM carries as well as programming from the world-famous Sporting News Radio. Both services provide interesting and compelling interviews and insights from those who play the game, those who coach, and former players and coaches as well as many other experts. In short, satellite radio is a sports fan's dream come true.
With both companies, you can always find play-by-play schedules on their websites or on specific channels on your radios. Also, most of the radios can now e set to show you updated scores from your favorite teams.
In conclusion, when shopping for a sports fan, or if you are a sports fan looking for a gift for yourself, you truly cannot go wrong with XM and/or Sirius.
