Saturday Morning

Tony Payne
I get up in the morn and think
What shall I write today
Saturdays mean housework
There's not always time to play

Tonight some friends are coming
For a meal, drinks and a chat
That means dusting and vacuuming
Because "dust" - we can't have that!

On weekends though
I really love to go out for a walk
The fresh air makes me feel revived
There's time for us to talk

Throughout the week we have to work
It really is a shame
We'd rather be together
Watching tv, playing games

But weekends are delightful
It's great to be together
Hot or cold, or wet or dry
We never mind the weather

Getting sidetracked is a trait of mine
And when the words flow out
From start to end the topic's changed
So what's this rhyme about?

When finding words that match and rhyme
My brain begins to ramble
I write the words and hope you like
This is a prime example

Well back to Saturday and "us"
I'm wrapping up this task
My second cup of coffee's drunk
It's time to make breakfast.

We found time to relax too, but as always with poetry you have to make things rhyme :)

If only AC paid a little more, I would love to write articles all day! But, alas, I too have a job that I don't really want to be at. I wish the weekends were longer!!

Don't overdo it shoveling Rhonda. I agree R K, I think we do appreciate the weekends better after working all week, but they seem to fly by so fast sometimes.

Sometimes we appreciate those weekends more after working all week...

Very nice. Have a great weekend. If I can shovel my way out I may take snow pictures.
