Saturday Morning, Thinking of the Future in Witch City!

The large part of what people are thinking about Witch School in Salem is kind of old world. They are expecting for us to set up, have a formal classroom, and then line up teachers, books, and lectures in a sort of pantomime of an ordinary school. While we will have some of that aspect, it will certainly not be the way we operate. That is very oh-so 20th century, and may I say Piscean in outlook. We will be something very Aquarian and fresh to the 21st century.

What do I mean? First, certainly we will have classes, and these will be as likely for people present as it will be for general broadcast. We will be using the power of the Internet to oblivate distance considerations for seeing or hearing lectures and other materials. Depending on what styles used, students will even be able to ask questions and interact with the teachers, mentors, and even each other simultaneously, and when not, each can react in a asynchronous manner to whenever they choose to watch and react. So you can be physically in the hall in Salem, or you can be virtually, with only a slight difference. (Virtually means you can be in your pj's at home).

As Witch School has always been a leader in this field, this will also add more to the overall education system of the Pagan community, and even the larger world. What we will do today, others will do tomorrow. We know that our actions today, are the future actions of others who follow. We as a community act and build, so that others can take, copy and repeat our very successful actions. So what you see in Witch School today will become a larger part of the Pagan community over the next several months and years. We are cutting edge, and that means we are the first to watch for the changes coming.

Don Lewis is very excited that Magick TV and all our online media operations are consolidating in Salem as a control center. This means we will begin offering the steady diet of educational, informational, news and entertainment programming we want. We will be in charge of a live 1940's style TV Studio that broadcasts to the Internet instead of to the local airwaves. So our teachings will be live, many will be broadcast, and this means we will be able to do several hours of live programming everyday. This is what we want out of Salem. The ability to provide more knowledge in ways people can use it.

Salem is also a writing community, and a college town, and this means we will be also a writing center to create better classes and information online. This means we will be putting together over the next few months and even years. This will allow us to tap into and expand the knowledge base of several Pagan and Wiccan traditions, and magical traditions as well. This will be a fantastic shift.

So our 21st Century School will have an incredible ability to exist in cyberspace, and it's primary purpose is to train the world. Salem will reflect that mission, being all about helping the world community learn and connect. So we will be a high-tech, smaller than expected, larger in so many unexpected ways, and we pray a perfect fit for Salem.
