'Black Swan' film Screening. The 13th annual Savannah Film Festival kicks off October 30 with the premier of "Black Swan" , starring Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis and Winona Ryder. The film focuses in on the relationship of a veteran ballet dancer and her rival. "Black Swan" was one the most highly expected film at the festival.
The turnout can only be described as explosive, long lines of people down the street waiting to get into Trustees Theater. Movie-goers excited, standing in line to see the highly expected film, giving the cameras from both national and local news organization thumbs up as they go into the theater. Movie enthusiast from South Carolina stated he comes to the festival every year to see both student and professional films. The Savannah Film Festival is not in the same league as Sundance or Indie film festivals, but still fun to attend, great experience for movie enthusiast.
Miles Teller Presented with Discovery Award. The Savannah film festival will not be complete without award ceremonies, Miles Teller 23-year-old actor receive the Discovery Award October 31. Miles played a role in the film called "Rabbit Hole" , now he is current working on the remake of "Footloose", set to be release April 2011. Miles receive the award before the special screen of "Rabbit Hole"; he was well received by the accompanying audience. The Savannah Film Festival is organized and hosted by SCAD every year. SCAD is short for Savannah College of Arts and Design, private, nonprofit, accredited institution offering Bachelors and Master Degrees.
Liam Neeson Presented with Achievement in Cinema Award. Liam Neeson was presented with an Achievement in Cinema Award November 2; the audience received him with standing ovation and scouts of joy. Liam takes the stage, humbled to give his acceptance speech, he briefly talks about being 62 different movies, being inspired by the hard work of the crew members at each film project he worked on giving thanks. Vincent D' Onofrio was in attendance at Liam Neesom award ceremony. Liam Neeson is best known in his pivotal roles in "Schindler's List", "Star Wars: Episode I", "Batman Beings", and "Taken"
Editors of 'LOST' Host Workshop. The Editors of the hit ABC series "LOST" hosted a workshop at the Gutstein Gallery on Broughton Street. The Editors discussed how technology is used to make some of the most memorable projects and films. This workshop was open to anyone who bought a ticket, great for anyone interested in special effects.
The Savannah Film Festival is not over yet, in fact the festival goes on for eight days. Many more celebrities are expected to make appearances later this week. The Savannah Film Festival may not be the Indie or Sundance festival, but movie enthusiast turns out to catch film screenings, rub elbows with some A-list celebrities and take up lectures.
