Although I have heard about the wholesale district all of my life the first time I was actually exposed to it was way before dawn one Friday morning when I was helping a friend buy flowers for her daughter's wedding and to decorate her daughter's wedding reception hall.
The local florists were charging prices way above my friend's budget. So off we went to the area of down town called the wholesale district. One of the major markets in the wholesale district is the flower market. Upon entering the huge market the first thing you will notice is the scent of thousands of different flowers all mingled together. The second thing you notice is flowers of all colors shapes and sizes being sold by vendors who each have their own space from which they sell their beautiful wares.
Unlike other areas of the wholesale district here in the flower market you don't haggle or try to bargain. Prices are set and that is what you are going to pay. But the prices are very reasonable compared to the price you would pay for the same flowers in at a local florist shop.
You will find yourself rubbing elbows with the buyers from all of the flower shops from miles around. In addition you will notice professional wedding planners, street vendors, and many other shoppers who have a need for large amount of flowers and need to get them at a bargain price. This is a very exciting market indeed.
You will also find here in the flower market all of the supplies you will ever need to create beautiful flower arrangements, bouquets, centerpieces, corsages, etc. etc.
Remember, if you ever find yourself in need of a large supply of flowers for any occasion, instead of going to your local florist to fill that need visit the wholesale flower market. You will be glad you did.
Don't think you have to be in the market for thousands of flowers to get a deal in your wholesale district flower market. To the contrary you can buy a small amount of flowers and still get a very good deal.
Attention men! Do you need a dozen long stemmed roses for that special occasion? Instead of buying a dozen long stemmed roses from your local florist, make the trip to your local flower market and buy 3 or four dozen roses for the same price you would normally pay for one dozen. Imagine how your wife's eyes will light up when you present her with that BIG bouquet. And you don't even have to say, "I got them wholesale."
