Save Egg Shells for Plant Fertilizer

Why Should You Put Egg Shells in Your Garden?

The net is healthy for this kind of information. There are Egg shells in my garden too. For months, I've been helping this precious dwarf bromeliad I got from Tigbuan, Iloilo for it has an exotic color of red which I prefer to show off - its uniqueness among my plants and amazingly it is a dwarf kind of bromeliad. When I first have this in my garden, the first weeks are tiring and disappointing for it was dying. There was a kind of brown pigment altering the tips of its leaves and it looked very dried up and tired. Never did I miss a day watering it for it was sunny season back then. Sadly thinking, I could never make that only thing bloom again.

One day, from a Reader's digest Article, I got the idea of egg shells. And my family consumes a dozen of eggs a day. So, why throw those egg shell away if:

They are high in protein which helps plants to grow and have healthy leaves.

They are also a source of calcium which adds valuable nutrients to soil.

Sounds less though. When I started to keep eggs shells and prepared them for my garden instead, there was hope for my bromeliad. Egg shells should be crushed first before you add them to your garden or pot plants otherwise they will break down very slowly.

Before, I've had loved putting very small white pebbles on top of the soil to decorate my potted plant. It turned out costly and with no worth for my plant at all. Now, I have to crush my egg shells and arrange them in circle or just thoroughly sprinkle it on the soil, same improvement happens and of course there's something for my bromeliad.

Surprisingly, after a week of having egg shells for fertilizer and until now, my plant is just too hale and hearty to look at.
