"Save My Life"

A Screenplay

Michael Wais Jr.
[Bill wakes up. His room is a mess. The whole scenery of his room shows how he is so depressed, lonely, and lost in his thoughts. He walks up from his bed undressed and depressed. There is silence. Cut to credits: An acoustic version of David Bowie's song "Dead Man Walking" is playing.]

[Bill is standing on the sidewalk smoking. It's a few years earlier but he looks a few pounds fatter and has more receding hair. He's leaning against the fence to the house next to his apartment building.]

[Joey runs out. He's a kind of scrawny and hyper guy.]

Joey: Biilllyyyy!!

[Cut to Billy walking into his apartment. The building looks like nobody lives there and inside, even though there are four to five people in there, something about it seems empty. The space presents the aura of an abandoned warehouse.]

[Billy walks into his room and lays down.]

[Billy wakes up. He smokes heroin. He goes into the shower very very slowly and sluggishly. It takes him two minutes to rise from the bed and quite a long time to get to the door. When he's in the shower he's dozing off while he's high. He hallucinates that a vampire mauls him in the shower and that helps him keep his eyes open while he's too wasted to go on.]

[Billy comes out after cleaning up himself. Joey is there with Kaye, the kind of girl you'd take home to mother. She's in her mid-20's and a college student.]

Joey: Hey man. A vampire get you?! Haha!

Joey: See! Look at that!

[He points to Billy's neck where a couple of places that he cut himself shaving are. There's two dripping holes that look like vampire teeth marks. They all laugh about it. Joey gets the camera and takes pictures.]
