Save Money on Food at 4 Lesser-Known Las Vegas Grocery Stores

Discount Groceries Are Abound at Offbeat Sin City Grocery Stores

Em Robbins
Even with the huge selection of Las Vegas restaurants and the fine room service at the many classy Las Vegas hotels, Las Vegas locals and visitors sometimes love to cook. For foodies looking for a different experience than the local Kroger-affiliated grocery store chain, Las Vegas offers some enticing shopping options, including Asian grocery stores, multinational grocery stores and independent produce markets, for those who grocery shop as a hobby in Sin City.

Zaytoon Mediterranean Market and Restaurant

Located near the far west side of town, Zaytoon Mediterranean Market and Restaurant is an offbeat independent grocery store with helpful and friendly staff. The market has a huge selection of hard to find imported grocery products, including candy from Iran, a large and varying selection of olive oil of many origins, Persian goods and spices and Mediterranean and French dessert and baked goods. This market also features a restaurant inside.

Zaytoon Mediterranean Market is packed full of exciting gift options from other countries that is sure to impress any Las Vegas guests who are into Mediterranean culture or food. They also have a selection of everything, down to startlingly high-quality fresh herbs, that a Mediterranean culinary enthusiast would need to cook an authentic meal. If you don't want to cook, you can eat at Zaytoon Restaurant, conveniently located inside the Zaytoon market.

Sunflower Market

If they like you, locals in Las Vegas will probably tell you that Sunflower Market has the best produce in town. One of the closest things to a real farmer's market in the city of Las Vegas, Sunflower Market is a lot like a Henry's or Boney's in other states. They offer deep discount deals on seasonal produce and a selection of dry goods priced reasonably with good sale prices. It is imperative to get a sale flyer when shopping at Sunflower Market, and observe Wednesday Double Ad days, when the sales for both overlapping weeks are in effect at the same time.

Greenland

Located in the Chinatown area of Las Vegas in a plaza called Korea Town, Greenland is a market with a great selection of reasonably priced produce. They also have a massive freezer full of frozen Asian treats, a fish counter and a hefty selection of alternative packaged ramen. Greenland is a good sized supermarket that is big enough to provide entertainment as you walk around. During busy hours, they often offer food samples of various products found at tables around the store.

International Market

International Market is a breathtakingly gigantic supermarket full of an astounding number of products from all around the globe, mostly organized by country of origin. A visitor to this market can get utterly lost among the product selection, as the market is large enough to wander around for literally hours. The entrance features a food counter serving roast duck which seems to be a fair price. The International Market has sporadic deals and sometimes offers deep discounts on unusual morsels of food for the frugal but culinarily adventurous Vegas home cook.
