Save Money on TV Service

M. Kaye Hash
Everyone is looking at their monthly bills and wondering which areas they can cut back on. TV service may be last on the list for many but, if you need to, you can save money on your TV service. If drastic cuts are not needed immediately, then start small when it comes to your television bill and work your way up to more intense changes.

Call around and see if there is another company available in your area that may be cheaper. If you have cable, check out the satellite options available, and if you have satellite, check out the cable options. Even if cable isn't available where you live you may find that one satellite company's package costs less than the other for the stations you watch.

Reduce your monthly package. If you are paying for movie or sports channels, reduce down to the most basic package, which could save you a great deal of money on TV service. You may even find that you are paying a great deal for channels that you never watch.

Give your TV service company a call and see if they offer any packages with your phone company. A package deal often combines your TV service, phone and internet at a reduce rate. Not only does this save money on TV service but it also makes bill paying easier as you are only writing one check or paying at one website, instead of three.

Turn off your TV service completely to save money if necessary. While this may seem intense, you could keep a movie rental program, like Netflix, so you have something to watch, or find your favorite programs on the internet.

Television may seem like a necessity but it is actually a luxury. If you do have to reduce down to basic, or turn it off completely, find other ways to entertain you and your family through outdoor activities, or games.
