Save Money on Your Wedding by Having a Tea Reception

An Elegant, Economical Affair

Susan Brown
What is a tea reception? It's a great alternative to the more costly full meal receptions that we often see associated with weddings! If you simply cannot afford a full meal for your guests at your reception, or you just want to keep things simple and unfussy, a tea reception is a perfect choice. It is, really, the most economical choice for a reception and it can be held no matter what time of day your wedding takes place.

A tea reception includes simple items like finger sandwiches, candy, cake, and cookies... and of course a nice beverage like tea or coffee. It's a very tasteful way to entertain your guests without making them feel "cheated" out of an enjoyable time. After all, people love to eat wherever they go!

If you choose to hire a caterer or other company to do the job for you, make sure you discuss the layout of everything beforehand. If your wedding has a certain theme, or is taking place at a certain time of year, the items on the menu can change. For instance, if you are having a winter wedding then perhaps you want to incorporate some snowflakes on those sugar cookies, or use a lot more white. Or, if your wedding has a certain color incorporated into it (such as in the flowers or bridesmaid dresses), you can make sure this color is incorporated into the food, as well. Yes, even though you are going the simpler route, you still want to manage what goes on at your own wedding.

Keep in mind that a tea reception can also successfully be carried by you and a handful of friends. Considering the items are simple ones, like cookies and perhaps store-bought cakes, why not just do this on your own? You can easily slash many dollars off the final price, and if you have someone that you trust to do it then you can definitely make sure things are done right! No cooking involved, setup being the only real work here. And it can be oh-so-elegant!
