First, you need to determine how much wax you need. Usually when you buy from a wholesale company you get a bigger price break the more you buy. Because of that it is a good idea to think far ahead and buy as much wax as you can (or as you would need) all in a single purchase. Since soy candle wax doesn't spoil or go bad you can stock up with enough for a long time all at once.
Most wholesale candle wax supplies sell soy wax in 50lb. increments. Determine how much wax it takes you to make a typical candle, then figure out how many candles you plan to make to come up with an estimate of how much wax you can reasonably use over a period of time. Use this to calculate how many cases you want to buy from the supplier.
Also, don't forget that soy wax comes in two different styles - wax for making jar candles and wax for making molded or pillar candles. Estimate how many of each type of candle you might make so you can be sure to get enough of the right kind of wax.
Once you know what you need you can start shopping around. Do a search for wholesale candle wax suppliers and start making a price comparison list. Be sure to factor in shipping as well. Since wax is heavy sometimes shipping costs can be very high - especially if it is coming from across the country. You might come out better buying higher priced wax that is closer to where you live.
Some wholesalers require you to have a business license in order to buy wholesale so be sure to check the buying requirements of each store as well. Business licenses are usually pretty cheap to get and it may be worthwhile for the money you can save buying wholesale. Check with your city or county to see what the licensing requirements are if you don't have a license and need one.
Once you have found the best deal go ahead and place your order. Aside from the money you can save, one of the best things about buying wholesale soy candle wax is that you always have the supplies you need on hand when you ready to make candles.
