Save the Most on Cigarettes by Learning to Use Rolling Paper

I recently wrote about rolling your own cigarettes using a filter cigarette rolling machine. If the idea is to save money on cigarettes, another option that will definitely save you the most money is to use papers. In the United States these cigarettes have gotten an undeserved bad reputation because they look like joints, but in other parts of the world this is the normal way of having a cigarette. So if you can stand up to some looks when you start rolling at work, this might be a good idea.

The tobacco is very cheap, but since you're not going to have it with a filter I would recommend BUGLER original. They come in .75 OZ packs, and costs around $2.50. If you buy bigger bags in cigarette stores you can get it very much cheaper, 16 OZ are usually around $17 but it depends on the brand.

When you get the tobacco make sure you get enough rolling paper, because it takes a few tries to get it perfect so many will probably be destroyed. After that it's just to stay patient and don't give up, and you'll be able to smoke up much less $$ then before. If you have never smoked this kind of cigarette before, I would recommend starting with filter tubes as they have more of a "normal" taste.

As you have the tobacco and rolling paper in front of you on the table, open up one of the papers and look at it. Inside it, on one of the edges is a thin line of glue. Take that side towards you, and fill the middle of the paper with tobacco. Then holding on to both sides of the paper, roll the tobacco in between your fingers by rolling one side down, then the other side up. Do this a few times. When the tobacco is evenly distributed and is lying in an even roll take the side towards you and push it up as far as it can go, without causing the tobacco to fall out on the other side. Hold a firm grip on the paper, and try to get the side away from you underneath the glued side. Then roll it together, lick the glue and paste it together.

If it doesn't go as you planned, don't worry. This is an art that takes a long time to master, and after 7 years of smoking these I still get "pregnant" smokes (thicker in the middle then in the sides). There are also many individually ways to doing this, so practice and find out what's right for you.

These cigarettes taste more than filter cigarettes, and are great for saving money on cigarettes. However, if you are as lucky as to get some real European rolling tobacco you might develop a preference for them, as the quality and taste is superb.
