Save Some Money

Julie Wimmer
Most of us would like to save money, whether we need to or not. In this economy, however, most of us need to! Below find some various tips I got from friends and acquaintances.

Whether you want to get a gift card as gift or use it for yourself, these two sites sell the cards at a discount. You can also sell gift cards you are not going to use.

Books

Many of us collect books, but if you think you can part with some, maybe you have doubles or books you just won't read again, why not make some money on them?

At home Tips

Most of us know these tips, but it is always a nice to be reminded:

-Unplug appliances you are not using. It not only saves money and energy, but also the earth.
-Use timers for your lights so they are only used at certain times.
-Make sure your freezer is usually full. A freezer that is not full works harder and uses more energy.
-If you can afford it, buy better windows. In the long run, the energy you save will be doubled or more.
-Using your printer at home, use Century Gothic Font, (if you program uses that font,) because it apparently uses less ink than other fonts which saves you money.
-Car-pool if you can.
-If you wash your car at home, use the water from your Rain Barrel if you have one, or fill buckets beforehand so you are not constantly turning the hose off and on.
-Boil water in the microwave. It's faster than the stove top and saves money and energy.
-Get rid of your magazine and newspaper subscriptions. They are great to have, but you can read all those articles online when you are using your computer (or at work!). When traveling, you can always buy a magazine for one time.
