My next tech purchase is probably going to be an Apple iPad 2. I'm beginning to do more writing, and I am planning to create software applications for various mobile devices. I currently share an original iPad with the rest of my family, but the thing I like about the iPad 2 is the ability to take pictures. I can take a picture of something, then write about it. In addition, having my own iPad will mean that I can use it for testing apps without feeling guilty about hogging the family iPad. I will need to do some research, however, to be sure that I'm not making a big mistake.
The iPad 2 Camera
One of the main reasons for wanting the iPad 2 for writing, rather than using my original iPad, is the iPad 2 camera. I will definitely want to make sure that the camera takes pictures that are high quality enough for my articles and blogs. If the pictures are too dark or grainy, and cannot be fixed, then there is no reason to buy the new iPad. I may as well just upgrade my phone to a version with a great camera, and continue using my original iPad.
A simple search for "iPad 2 camera quality" or "iPad 2 camera compare" on Google yields many results, showing comparisons to other tablets, and to the iPhone 4. The goal is to see actual pictures taken with the device, side by side with pictures taken from other devices. Even if the results are not great, I will want to see that they are at least good enough for my needs, or at least good enough to be touched up enough to get the quality I'm looking for. These results will need to be balanced with all of the other things I am looking for, which includes a good app store, and plenty of great business tools.
Other iPad 2 Features
I would also like to be able to use the iPad for other business functions. A few of the reasons I chose the iPad 2 were for Apple's App Store, the interface, and integration with my iMac. I don't want to have to do a lot of searching for specific apps. I have been doing research on the differences between stores by borrowing Android mobile devices from friends or family. The fact that a friend or family member has a preference for a certain mobile device does not mean that it will be right for me. It's also difficult to find that information from an article online, because I really need to hold it in my own hands to see if I like the look and feel. It would be a shame to spend a large sum of money, and not feel completely happy with my decision.
Saving for the iPad 2
Whether I decide to buy the iPad 2, or another tablet, I will need to save money to buy it. I have found that the best way to do this is to tie it to something else I want to do that can make me money. For example, I have an Amazon Associates account. I may plan to tie the money I save for the iPad 2 to the money I make as an Amazon Associate. This will force me to build my Amazon business, which will last long after I have bought the iPad 2, and will result in a special prize for my efforts.
