"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." (Ephesians 6:12)
Christian Marriages need God's guidance and guidance can be gained by prayer and studying the scriptures. "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." (James 5:16)
Infidelity is the number one cause for divorce and can be the most difficult trial for any Christian. The pain of the one who was cheated can be worse than the most physical pain. The guilt of the one who cheated can be so overwhelming that forgiveness can seem completely unattainable.
Prayer is the key to all things, including marriage. Humble yourself before Him and He will lift you up. He always hears the prayers of the righteous.
We, as believers, are considered righteous before God through our faith in Jesus Christ. The act of prayer alone is an act of faith, which is counted toward us as righteousness.
It doesn't matter whether you're both believers or not.
"For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy." (1Cor.7:16).
God is all powerful and there is nothing He cannot do. It doesn't matter how bad the marriage is, or what kind of problems you are having. There is no problem too big or too small for the Almighty.
Counselors can be very helpful when it comes to a troubled marriage, but God is the source of all healing. If your Christian marriage is failing, go directly to the source and get the healing you need to save it. There are a number of Christians who underestimate the power of prayer and tend to forget just how powerful our God really is.
"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do." (Hebrews 4:12)
However, it is inconceivable that God would approve of marital abuse. If you are willingly tolerating an abusive situation, why should God deliver you? Not only is He able to deliver you from the abuse, he is also able to ultimately save the marriage if it's worth saving. And only He knows whether or not it's worth saving.
Put your life and everything in it into God's hands. That's the safest place to be.
"Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you." (James 4:8)
