If you are living on retirement income or close to it, there are expenses that you might need to look into cutting else you might not have as much money for everything as you would have hoped. There are certain changes that are good to make so that you won't have so much expenses on a limited income.

Take advantage of any tax advantages or incentives that you can get. You might need to talk to an accountant about what you might take advantage of. This is important because you could be overpaying in taxes. Additionally depending on how you invest your money, you could get your retirement income to go a bit further by reducing your tax load.

Get older vehicles or get rid of vehicles that you don't need. A new car is just a bit too much especially when you aren't working. See if you can downsize to a few less cars and get away with less while with your spouse. Many times this is very practical and saves money.

There are many discounts for services that you can get as a senior citizen or by just being over 55 years of age. You should always check to see what discounts are available before making a purchase. This could be simple things like food or even more expensive things like a hotel room.

Your home is something that you should look into making some changes to. The most obvious way of reducing your overall expenses is by moving into a smaller home. This isn't the only factor you should look at. You should also look at the property tax trends and insurance for your area. You could get a smaller home and end up paying more if you aren't careful. Reducing the space that you live in will typically save you quite a bit of money.
