Congratulations you are expecting a baby! All the joy and excitement can turn to worry about finances also. Babies can be expensive but there are a few things that can help you save money on the little one from the start. Saving money on clothes, formula and diapers from the start is easier than many new parents realize.

If you choose to formula feed your baby the cost is sometimes unbelievable, but money can be saved by signing up for coupons from the company whose formula you are using. Similac, Enfamil and Good Start each have a promotions tab on their website for new parents. When signing up they ask for some information including delivery date or birth date of your baby. This information is used to send out the appropriate coupons for your baby's age. Many of these coupons come in the form of a check. The check is then taken to the store of your choice and provided as partial payment towards your formula. Some of the websites will also send out a sample package of some formula for you to sample.

Diapers are another huge expense for new parents. The options are disposable and cloth diapers these days. Let's face it there is no way around diapers, babies need them and you have to buy them. However you do not have to pay full price for diapers all the time. Most diaper companies run coupons every so often in the Sunday newspapers. Asking family and friends to save these coupons will help to reduce your costs. Another way to reduce the cost is to sign up on the website of different diaper companies to get more coupons. The major companies have a tab on their website to sign up for either coupons or a newsletter that will generate coupons for you. Test some generic diapers also, these can be much cheaper than name brands. If your baby can tolerate the diapers and you do not have leaks this may also be a good route to go in order to save money.

Saving money on clothes can be found in a few different ways. When filling out your registry for your baby shower. Select clothes in larger sizes, since babies grow so fast. It begins to build a wardrobe for when the little one has suddenly outgrown all of their clothes. Check out resale shops also, since they grow so fast finding great clothes at great prices is easy to do. Many clothes in the resale shops still have tags on them, since they have never been worn because junior out grew them before he could wear them. When shopping for clothes if you find a great clearance sale, purchase some clothes in a larger size for a future date.

Using the search engine on your computer, you will be able to find the formula and diaper companies to sign up for coupons. Using the local phone book or asking family and friends for recommendations on resale shops will have your bundle of joy feed, dressed and dry at a fraction of the cost. Start saving money on the baby from the get go and as they grow up you will find even more ways to save. So get ready for one of the best life changing moments you will ever have, and enjoy that new baby because they really do grow up fast.
