If there¡¯s one technology that people use in their everyday life, it¡¯s computers. Computers are a significant part of our culture today. It¡¯s used for unimaginable amount of tasks. Using a computer, one can: surf the web, share information, store information, process things, etc. In the market today, faster computers are obviously more expensive than the slower ones, but is there a way to get them cheaper? The answer is yes. You can build your own computer.

When people hear the words ¡°building your own computer¡±, they freak out and get scared. It¡¯s actually not a hard concept if you take time to learn about it. Let¡¯s first start with why it¡¯s cheaper to build computers than to buy one from a store. In order to see the reason behind this, we have to start at the bottom of the chain. People first pay for the resources to build that individual part of the computer. People are paid to build those certain computer parts (ex. CPU, GPU, RAM, etc). Those parts are sent off to the manufacturing companies (ex. Dell, alienware, etc), and the people there build it together and package it nicely for sales. You as a customer goes to a store and buys that built computer. By building a computer, you purchase individual parts of a computer and put it together on your own. This will save the process where the companies put the parts together which are very expensive and time consuming. By doing this step yourself, you will save literally hundreds of dollars, but requires some researching, learning, and time.

People always say that the first step is the hardest, which is true. Once you learn this process, you become an expert it; you can do this next time without relearning the process. First you have to take a look at each parts of the computer. The computer consists of these parts: Hard drive, CD drives, motherboard, CPU, GPU, memory, Power supply, case. These are the parts that you will have to learn about because just like a puzzle piece, certain parts only fit with certain things. You can purchase these individual parts at online shops like www.newegg.com as it is much cheaper online than at stores. With a little bit of research, you can learn which parts you will have to buy to fit your other parts.

Putting the computer together is a process that takes only few hours. Although you are putting extra learning and building time into doing this, purchasing a computer will not give you the satisfaction you get from building your own computer. After you build your computer, you know that you have gained more knowledge, saved lots of money, and you can tell people that you built it yourself and have them be impressed at you. They may call you a computer geek, but that just means you¡¯re a smart person who learned a new skill that will help you in life. You can than laugh at your other friends or relatives who buys their computer. Learning this skill will open up new opportunities for you and can be a good knowledge incase someone wants to save money and you can offer them your skill for money.
