The first thing to get on track to managing your money is to get a debit card, and for those that don't know what a debit card is it is not anything like a credit card because with a debit card you use the card to make purchases with money you already have and with a credit card you make purchases with money you may not have, also with a debit cards it is connected with your credit union and with you can look at all of the money that you spend and where you spent it and that will help you know if you are spending a lot of money and if you have to decrease your spending limit.
The second thing you want to do is spend less money for example if you really want a C.D the first thing to check to see if you even have enough money to spend on a C.D, if you don't then you can't buy it and have to wait till you have enough money, if you do have enough money decide whether you really need that C.D or even if you like all of the songs on the C.D because if you don't like all of the songs on it and only like a few then buy the songs from iTunes.
Lastly if you think you would need a credit card look at all of the benefits of having a credit card and the disadvantages of having a credit card if you find a credit card that you think is great get a second opinion from a parent or someone that you trust. After you found the credit card that is the best for you set your own credit limit remember just because the limit of the credit card is $2000 doesn't mean that you need to have the credit limit at $2000, also if you know you can only pay back $500 then set the credit limit at $500 remember you don't want to fall behind in payments because then you end up paying more than the item cost you and you don't want to get into debt.
Well now that you are almost done with high school and may go on to higher education or may get a job right away you know how to manage you money, how to keep money into your pocket and how to prevent yourself from getting into debt.
