Saving Money on Groceries, Necessities and Other Assorted Items During Tough Economic Times
Saving More of Your Hard Earned Money is a Good Idea in Both Good and Bad Economic Times
OK, I know that this isn't a movie and I understand that the financial turmoil we're going through is no laughing issue. It's tough out there, plus believe me personally when I tell you I am suffering right alongside with you and that's why I am sharing my tricks for saving money with you by writing this article.
Although the very first part of this piece is meant to be, hopefully, slightly amusing the fact is that there are methods to cut costs so that you will walk away with more of your money in-spite to the economic turmoil we're encountering.
I am going to teach you a few ways that you can save money for the essentials along with possibly a couple of indulgence products or services.
First thing you need to be undertaking is to subscribe to a bonus card program at your nearby supermarkets. Yes, I said stores, plural, because I'm certain there are more than one in your neighborhood and whichever product that isn't on sale in one store will more than likely be on sale in the other. Keep in mind, it might be a bit of a pain in the rear end to fill out such a form for that bonus card, but the money you'll end up saving is going to be considerable.
Given that you've already opted for those bonus cards commence clipping those coupons. I realize this kind of seems so very 20'th Century but this old-school tactic still performs like a dream. If you see a coupon pertaining to something which you purchase on a regular basis then clip it and hang on to it.
The best instances to make use of that coupon is when one or two Grocery stores, for which you ought to now posses a bonus card, holds a sale. That's when you pounce and get all those products. Not only will you obtain the cheaper selling price that your bonus card affords you but if you've also brought a coupon for this product subsequently that selling price falls even lower.
I get it though, cutting coupons can easily be so very tedious but if you're married or have kids or both then make everyone take a turn cutting coupons for any of those items that they normally consume and drink. Designate it their own responsibility to obtain the coupon for the Coke Zero or Sprite or Folgers coffee coupons for otherwise they will be doing without. Explain that if there is a coupon in the newspaper for an item they desire and they neglect to clip it then they will be going without. Alternatively they are welcome to purchase those items with their own money; especially the kids. This will put the fear of the devil into them and they will find those coupons lickity-split.
Coupons don't only show up in your newspaper or mailbox. There are plenty of manufacturers coupons that you can print from their websites and even the stores websites. I can practically ensure that you're going to find a coupon pertaining to just about every item on your grocery list if you check for coupons using the multiple sources approach of hunting down coupons.
CRUCIAL INFORMATION, Before you go to the supermarket be sure that you have eaten or snack before hand. It can be so easy to just blow your budget on treats as well as other convenience and processed foodstuff if you head over to the Grocery store with a rumbling stomach. You are far less likely to purchase anything off-list if you go to the Supermarket properly fed and content.
Best advice is to go shopping alone, leave the youngsters at home if possible because kids will be kids and so they generally desire everything that they see. They are the ultimate consumer monsters and they will stray from that grocery list of yours quicker than you can say "saving money."
This brings me to my subsequent point, make sure that you make a list of the items for which you are going to the Market for and do not stray from your list. Be certain you have all those clipped coupons with you and try your hardest to solely buy the things that are on sale to enable you to take full advantage of your savings whenever you couple their own sale prices along with those coupons that you and the entire family aided to clip.
When you need something that's not on discount sale at the Grocery store you're in so then do not purchase it there. It's more than likely that the some other Grocery store in the neighborhood has that same item on sale in order to compete with the Food store you're currently standing in.
Hence unless of course that other Supermarket is an hour away, you should simply purchase the items which are on sale in one Supermarket after which you can hop in your car and drive to the other Supermarket and finish your "sale+coupon" shopping there.
Yes, it will certainly require a bit more time to complete all your shopping, however when you are not straying from your grocery list in that case all those products you are searching for act like a homing beacon and you'll head directly for them.
Now I can already hear you saying that you bought Ice-cream and Milk and that those items will spoil if you leave these in the automobile for to much time and that visiting a second Supermarket is unquestionably too long, right? Wrong.
You know that moderate or significant cooler you took to the beachfront earlier this summer? Well, stick that bad boy in your trunk, or on the backseat, and put lots of ice in it. Ice is free and it will keep your perishable items fresh whilst you go from one Grocery store to another. You may want to use bungee cords to keep the cooler in place if it's in your trunk or feel free to use the seat-belts in the back seat to help keep the cooler from sliding around. Though you may still prefer to utilize a bungee to hold the lid tightly sealed.
At this point you don't have any excuses for not visiting the other Grocery store just because you bought Ice-cream while in the first Supermarket.
Once you pay for your products remain in the store and go over your receipt. Sometimes and even oftentimes the cashier may make a miscalculation and overcharge you. Should you find you are lousy at mathematics then just keep a solar powered calculator in the car or in you purse or on your person by some means. Use bungee's if you need to. Calculators usually are not only extremely inexpensive nowadays but fortunately they are very thin and easy to use. So if you're powers of calculating are not what you would like them to be, you will have your calculator along with you to make sure you're getting the deals you're supposed to get.
Put any freshly bought perishable items into that cooler along with your Ice-cream you already bought previously in the first supermarket so as to just to keep everything nice and cold and ready to eat, drink or otherwise enjoy. Also, if you are putting freshly bought COLD items into a cold cooler then you are helping to maximize the effectiveness of the cooler.
One more thing I would like to add, stop buying dinner at McDonald's or Wendy's or wherever. You can fix dinner at home in just a few minutes that is nutritious and delicious and with the obesity problem in the USA healthy eating is a good idea to switch to entirely. Not to mention that it's much much cheaper.
There are lots of ways to save money on food and frankly you can use many of the same methods for other items like back to school clothes etc.
It's tough out there right now, I know that as well as you do but with a little bit of thinking ahead and the clipping of a few coupons along with getting a your local Supermarket's bonus cards you will stretch your food budget further than you ever thought possible.
I hope you enjoyed this article and got some decent ideas for your next trip to the Supermarket. Please let me know if you found this article useful and I will write a follow-up with more tips and tricks on saving money and coming out ahead.
