Saving Money for a Wedding Can Be an Enjoyable Creative Challenge

Even when You Need to Cut as Many Corners as Possible, You Can Create a Dream Wedding

Planning your wedding is one of the happiest tasks you'll ever undertake, and like all bridal couples, you'll want to create a celebration of your love that is memorable and uniquely your own. If you have a limited budget to work with and you are saving money for a wedding, you may need to become even more creative, but it's still possible to have a dream wedding -- the kind almost every starry-eyed little girl dreams of her entire life!

Try to find ideas for free wedding destinations in your local area such as neighborhood parks and state parks, or even having a backyard wedding. Historic sites, friends' homes, families' yards, the beach, your favorite restaurant, a farm, or even community centers can provide additional options.

Some churches provide reception hall rentals for reasonable cost if you have the wedding ceremony there. If you rent a different type of hall, have the ceremony and the reception at the same place to save money. You can elect to have it in the afternoon.

When you are saving money for a wedding, it can also pay off to be flexible about the date. Have it on a Sunday when hall rentals are cheaper; that way, guests won't stay as long either. Keep all of the "trimmings" to a minimum. Fridays may also be a less expensive alternative.

Think of different themes like Parisian cafe, Italian bistro, Renaissance Faire, or an evening at the theatre with hors d'oeuvres. These types of themes can be fun to plan around, allow you to stay within budget, and make for some interesting food and décor. Plus, your guests will talk about your wedding forever because of its originality!

Make your dress or wear an off-the-rack formal or buy a used wedding dress on eBay if you are saving money for a wedding. Some bridal shops sell the samples from previous seasons. Can you wear your mother's wedding dress? Check with cleaners that store wedding gowns. Some brides abandon their storage and you can get a nice gown for nearly nothing.

If you enjoy the feeling of being on a REAL treasure hunt, you may even find some great bargains on used bridal gowns at the local thrift stores. After a professional dry cleaning and perhaps some clever alterations and even maybe adding embellishments such as extra beading or pearls or lace, you may end up with a really unique gem of a dress that's truly one of a kind!

One of the best investments you can make up front is to find a great saving money for a wedding guide to follow so that you can get additional money-saving ideas that might not otherwise occur to you, as well as a proven plan to follow in creating your own dream marriage celebration!
