Now is even harder then ever to save money. We are worried about our jobs and the state of the economy, even those of us who have done well and did "everything right" are having problems. Losing money in our 401K's and investments. We all have to start saving for the "what if's"! Here are just a few money saving tips to get you started. They may not seem like much but they are definitely helpful.

1. Cancel your movie rental subscription, sign up for redbox and get a free movie every Monday, and often times they run specials like last month they had free movies on Wednesdays as well.

2. If you need to Shop, Shop Online! Often times you get a better deal shopping online at places like Target, Walmart etc. Use rebate sites like Ebates, Cashbaq, and Big Crumbs to get cashback on everything you buy online. You also save gas and miles on your car by shopping online!

3.Use your Reward credit card to pay so you earn cashback or points as well! Just make sure you go and pay your card right away afterwards to not incur any finance charges. I get the points and then use billpay to pay it right away that way its like using cash and I'm not going into debt!. This is equally important now because credit card companies are closing accounts that are not active because they are afraid. So if you want your account to stay open for a rainy day then this is a good way to keep it going, get good credit and earn points toward rewards!

4. Try and make coffee at home instead of going to the coffee shop. Bring lunch, these seem like little things but they add up and you get use to them quickly.

5. Look for Free Events in your area, there are plenty of them if you look. This will give you a night out without spending much.

6. Clip Coupons! Using coupons is a great way to save money, most supermarkets will double or triple your coupons.

7. Try and find creative ways to play with the kids, take them to the park, take them to a home depot kids clinic, its free and fun. Take them out to eat on days that restaurants have free kids meals when you buy an adult entree (there are tons of them.)

8. Get a water filter and a water bottle and stop buying bottled water, its good for you and the environment.

There are many creative ways to save, you just have to change your mindset and be conscientious of what you are spending. Write stuff down! Make lists when you go to The store so you don't buy things you don't need. Clean out your clothes closet, you may discover things you haven't even worn and can wear now. Be creative!
