Saw 4

A Great Movie to a Great Series

If Saw 1 made you squeamish, Saw IV isn't good movie for you to see. Like its predecessors, Saw IV featured the legacy of Jigsaw, the psychological serial killer. Jigsaw believes that, by putting his victims in life-or-death situations, the victims will learn lessons that they've been neglecting throughout their lives.

If the sight of blood makes you feel faint, Saw IV probably isn't the best movie for you. The opening scene consists of footage of Jigsaw's skull, brain, and body being cut apart in an autopsy. Even though Jigsaw's death happened in previous movies, he planned out traps and trained a predecessor to take over his job when he died.

Detective Rigg, the only remaining detective in his station that Jigsaw hasn't killed, becomes a main character in this movie. Rigg's friend and coworker has been abducted by Jigsaw in the third movie. In this sequel, the "new" Jigsaw places Rigg in a series of tests to save his friend. If he passes all of his tests, his friend will survive. The tests are all devised to help Detective Rigg understand why Jigsaw thinks the way he does. Jigsaw wants Detective Rigg to "see what he sees" and "feel what he feels". During his tests, Jigsaw comes in contact with a prostitute and a rapist.

With the introduction of his ex-wife, this movie also takes the time to cover and explain parts of Jigsaw's lifetime. As the viewer watches and comprehends Jigsaw's tribulations, the viewer starts to feel a sense of understanding into Jigsaw's mind.

This movie features an interesting soundtrack that helps bring out the action and psychological thrill of the movie. The camera angle and stability of the camera help bring out the best parts of the movie.

In the end of the movie, a twist is thrown at the viewer. The twist, however, is something you'll have to watch the movie to discover.

I recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys a good psychological thriller especially someone who is a fan of the Saw series. This movie, however, carries an "R" rating, so make sure you're over seventeen or bring a parent with you to purchase it.
