Saw 5 Movie Review

Laura Hickey
For the fans of the movie 'Saw' series, many have been waiting for a year to see the latest flick Saw 5. If you watch VH1, you might have had seen the commercial for the new reality show called Scream Queens. It's not a show on the best scare wins but rather competing to win a spot in Saw 6. Yes, that's right, for Saw 6. Unfortunately when this commercial aired, many fans of Saw were disappointed to find out before the Saw 5 movie even was released for Oct 24, 2008, we had already been give a taste of what was to be expected. On a related note, if you're a fan of Shawnee Smith ("Amanda" in the Saw movie series) you may want to check out Scream Queens as she hosts the show.

If you've seen saw 4, you were probably disappointed that some parts of Saw 3 weren't answered but in Saw 5 some of the pondering questions are answered. There's many twists and just when you think you know the answer to the puzzle, another piece is throw in front of you. There's more history in this movie about the Saw game to try and help viewers understand how jigsaw can continue his work. Highly suggest seeing all Saw films in sequence or the viewer may be higher confused.

To avoid giving all the details of the movie, the basic plot starts with one detective (Scott Patterson) surviving a horrible trap. The detective then takes off to piece together all the murders to solve the puzzle. You might know the actor who plays the detective better known as "Luke" from Gilmore Girls. I thought he did rather well playing in the role. Warning to those who haven't seen any of the Saw movies, they are quite gory and do contain a lot of blood-graphic scenes. The tag line for this movie of "you won't believe how it ends" is definitely true. Also if you enjoy the actor Tobin Bell, you'll see more of him rather than more of his voice with the now famous jig saw doll.

I would recommend this movie at the theater but if your on a tight budget, wait until it comes out in a few months on DVD. If you haven't seen the trailer or want to watch it again, check it out on : http://www.saw5.com/agegate.html Here you'll also be able to mix up scenes from your favorite saw movies.
