At the short moment, a sudden change to a person's mental state is what causes the problem. And another reason is, you will be worrying about the next attack, which is a dreadful experience to those who have thoughts of dying. This is especially obvious when it happens in the public places. WHY? It is the situation where someone is helpless and lacks of support. You may feel unsafe and insecure. Bad Feelings.
What will be the consequences? We TEND to AVOID. Let me give you some examples:
Avoid places where your attacks occurred, driving alone, taking public transports e.g. on the bus and train, or even going out of home alone! Those are on the other hand, consequences of having intense and frequent attacks with their occurrences increase.
In short, one wants to AVOID. Avoid everything more than the anxiety attacks itself.
Avoiding the consequences or the occurrence of symptoms is not going to help much. The more we avoid, the more are we allowing the ANXIETY and FEAR to come up to us. The process goes repeatedly, again and again, like a VICIOUS CYCLE.
Anyway, it is NOT the end of the day.
We need to OVERCOME IT!
First, and the first thing to do is to STOP AVOIDING. We must understand that these symptoms and behaviours can be treated. Throw out this word from your mind now, AVOID, throw away now! Believe, it is treatable. Completely.
Secondly, avoiding is a negative approach to the environment and situations. We must change the approach. HOW? FACE IT. We have to accept that, yes, maybe I am having some problems having anxiety attack, this is a FACT, BUT, I have decided to CONFRONT and OVERCOME it! Stop thinking and putting hope that the attacks will not come to find you again, not a single second.
You must also understand and accept that it is proven, that anxiety attack can be medically or behaviourally treated and cured. Yes, you have hard time during the attacks, but you must BELIEVE that that will not harm you, AT ALL.
Mind is a powerful tool. Let's learn how to do this.
Although the heart may pound crazily, and the first thought that come across will be: Oh GOD, is it a heart attack? You are NOT. Stay calm. The heart does this when we are having vigorous activities like sports or feeling excited. Just the matter of it happens so unnaturally.
Here are some scientific facts too. When you can't breathe, you are not suffocating. It has lower risk that you will suffocate when you are facing attacks, because you simply taking in more air! Dizziness, numb and weak feeling are some symptoms of having too much oxygen in the bloodstream. You are actually breathing too much, not suffocating, no, NOT!
Educate with the knowledge and equip yourself with strong mind that anxiety attack cannot hurt us; it does no harm except the fear of fearing.
Let us take action today and Face the problem bravely.
