Scam of the Week

Internet Ad Processing Jobs

David Moan
Wouldn't it be nice to work from your house, make your own hours? The internet is full of job sites. But for every legitimate job these days there are two to three scams. Meet the newest scam of the internet: ad processing.
Here is the advertisement: Are you looking a go getter? Do you have a computer and internet access? Process ads on the internet for $10-25 dollars an ad. You can work right from home. Make $500-$750 a week. For a one-time fee of $10 dollars, we will send you all the training you need to begin processing internet ads today.
After completing your payment through the internet bank known as Paypal, you will receive an email with a Word document or if your real lucky, a PDF attachment that lists the five easy steps to making money today.

Step one: open a Paypal account.
Step two: Create a job advertisement exactly like the one you were just suckered by and post it on the internet.
Step three: Create a Word doc. Or PDF file just like the one you are currently reading. If you're a real "go getter", just copy the one your reading.
Step four: Charge people $10-$25 dollars to send the "training" materials.
Step five: Start scamming people.

This scam is more diabolical because of its promise of payment for work. In the beginning, the ad will talk about all the businesses who advertise on the web like Best Buy, Target, Walmart, and Ebay. Then it will talk about how someone needs to process those ad responses because the numbers must be overwhelming. For the honest worker just looking to grab some extra money by using this as a second job or a job to do while their children are at school, it holds great promise: promise of being paid for work done, promise of great potential without being tied to a schedule that will allow them to help pay bills while raising a family.
It preys upon the good will of decent people by dropping legitimate names with no real follow up. It asks for only 10 dollars, which most people can afford to risk for the potential of that perfect second job. It is a very intelligent scam. There is no real cost and it has realistic numbers. A decent person who needs a few extra dollars may even be able to talk themselves into participating for a week or two. After all, it is only $10 dollars.
The one problem is that it is still a scam with consequences. The one legal mistake is the Paypal account. That is a recorded account just as the email correspondence is recorded. It can be easily tracked and all it takes is one complaint or one undercover agent and a decent person could find themselves in a world of legal troubles.
Steer clear of jobs advertising Internet Ad Processing. That is our scam of the week.
Have you been the victim of a scam or know of an internet scam? Write me with your story and we will put it in next week's article.

I got one today from someone who calls themself Theron Weaver. So far, they haven't asked for any money, but I will keep my eyes and ears open for that. If they do not ask for money, are there other ways that they could still be scamming people?

This is what I was sent:

Actually, I think this is legal. Since they are offering an actual "product", via the pdf file, it becomes legal.

I was sent an email that looks exactly like what you described, and was wondering.....why wouldnt they tell me the company name or anything? Before i sent them $15 I wanted to read up on what it was all about...I found nothing. except this, lol. thanks for saving me $15 and from feeling like an idiot.
