Scammers Using Associated Content - Warning to All Content Producers

It was just a few days after watching Oprah that I had opened a "Nigeria scam". If you missed the Oprah show, it was about how thousands of people in the US are being scammed by citizens of Nigeria, promising a percentage of money to the US citizen who helps them move their finances out of their country into ours for "investment" reasons. Sadly there is no real money, and the US citizens end up shelling out money because they believe they will be paid, and then some. They are taken for thousands and thousands of dollars.

You may have read some of these in you e-mails, some even through the postal service, but I just had to write to let you know, we, the content producers of AC, are at risk. Just read the following e-mail I received through my associated content message center:

"Hello
How is life with you, work, family and health?i hope you are doing well if so thanks be to God,anyway i just joined this site and went through your profile and just wanted to drop a note,i mean i like it and i would like to know you better if you don,t mind please send me an email tell me about yourself,i really need to talk to you cuz i need help and i ,ll reply you as soon as i get it,i really hope to hear from you soon. taylornelly2@yahoo.com
Yours Nelly "

Followed by this message:

"Dear Melissa
I,m so sorry to hear about your husband really God is in control i know its hard but all will be fine i will really like to talk to you if you have yahoo so we can chat now i,m online no please add me so i can really talk in private its something really important to me and my mother "

(Yes, I did write her back, and I freely opened up about a marital concern I have, I honestly thought she was just a new content producer who need some help with the site)

And again, the latest message:

(This is a long one)

"Dear
How are you today,I hope you and your family are doing ok today, if so thanks be to God.thanks for your email and i,m really greatful for you to write back, please i want look into my condition and see if you have the heart to help me and my family get through this cuz we don,t have anyone to turn to just God and i hope he gives you the heart to help the helpless like me, i think you are a nice person and i just want to reach out to you and see if you can help me in this,I will tell you more about my self now My name is Nelly Taylor daughter of late Chief Jeff Taylor,i,m 26 years single girl,no kids never married,i use to study Law but i drop out when i lost my father and little sister during the war in my country.no i just take care of kids just to keep up with my mother illness.i don,t know why i,m doing this but i,m so confuse cuz my mothers is sick and i,m scared that anything can happen to her and i don,t want anything to happen to her cuz she is the only one i have left in my family,so i just want you help to save my mother life.

My father was a very rich and traditional African and made a lot of money from the sales of Diamond and Crude Oil. we are all from Liberia. On the 22 day of Nov 2003 My father was on his way back from off shore he was attacked by some rebel fighters who killed him. me and my mother Mrs.Marian Taylor inherited the sum of 19$ (Nineteen Million U.S Dollars) from my father. Before the death of my late father, we had already flew from our country(Liberia) to Abidjan because of the war in our country where i lost my little sister, and after the death of my late father, My father lawyer did came to meet us in Abidjan and then he gave us my father death certificate and document that stated he deposited his fund with a bank in Ghana, for safekeeping and transfer.

I and my mum flew to Ghana for the claim of the fund, we located the bank and presented all the legal documents to the bank, but the bank refuse to give to us the fund of my father, they told us in the bank that my father has already registered the fund on express transfer to Leave Africa, so we speak to the head of treasury department of the bank and he advice us to look for a foreign parter to help us contact the bank for the claim of the fund Me and my mother want you to help us receive this funds as our foreign partner, you help us contact the bank, to stand for us before the bank as the new beneficiary of this fund. we do want to help us invest the fund in a life time investment in your country since i am still a young girl without business idea,

My mum will give to you 25% of the total sum of money invested in your country, I and my mum also need your advice on what to invest the fund in your country and also said that before this fund can be release or transfer to you, that you will have to sign an agreement with my family so that we can trust you cause you know you have not meet you before. I know you may surprise you but it the is truth and no one expect you knew that we are still alive and in Ghana that is why you must keep this as a top secret to yourself alone, because we for safety of our life my mother said i should tell you and all the legal documents covering this fund are with my mother. Please we need your help to get our fund and leave Ghana and start a new and happy life, As soon as the fund is transfered to you, I and my mother will come to your country and if everything is ok, and if its ok for you to also come to Ghana and meet me and my family and help us here it also very nice I and my mother pray and wait to hear from you and then i will send to you the legal document that was given to my father by the bank when he deposited the fund with them for your view .please help me save my mothers life cuz she is ill and not too feeling well so please i will like you to write to me soon call me on my number is 00233243821482,please i really need your help Bye for now and hope to hear from you soon.God bless you

I got this message from Nelly Taylor a while back and it was a little strange. I deleted it, but felt a little bad doing so. Now I'm glad I did. Thanks for alerting everyone!

I got the same message!! I debated a few days and decided not to e-mail her back because something seemed a little off with her e-mail. I felt bad about it and did a little research on her and found your article. I can't believe people are using AC to scam people!
