Scamper and Me and His "Independence"

Shirley A Mandel
I'm the proud owner of Scamper the Cat, and I love him to death, but I get a slightly rude awakening early every morning. Since Scamper is a quiet cat who is meow challenged, he nips on on my toes at the crack of every dawn to awaken me and to get my attention. Then he sits up real pretty and holds his head high in the air with his white neck showing to tell me it's time for his daily dose of early morning affection.

After spending a signficant amount of time petting his head and scratching his neck, he purrs and purrs, and then jumps off the bed and goes over to his food and water bowls to let me he's ready for breakfast now. So like a loving cat momma, I fill his bowls with fresh food and water, and then I lake his litter box outside and supply him with clean, fresh bathroom clay. Finally I sweep his floor to make his home real pleasant.

Then when I bend over to give him another little pat on the head he turns around and gives me a sound bite on the hand and scampers directly up the ladder stairs and into the loft in order to play alone because he's "INDEPENDENT!" He's independent? Go figure.

I have a great deal of trust in my kitty, but at the same time, I have a lot of respect for him because he has really good teeth and apparently knows how to use them. But if that cat dosen't stay off my computer key board while I'm working he's going to get a little taste of my teeth. He just won't leave it alone! LOL

Ha ha. If my kitty starts in to bitting on me, I may well indeed love her to death. Ok no get angry. i do treasure and enjoy all of may animals. Great story, Shirley. It is always a comforting feeling to awaken to a cat on the foot of the bed. Thanks for sharing.
