Scarves Are "It" for Fall 2007

If you are going to chose one type of accessory to really splurge on for this fall, let it be scarves. Scarves are making a major comeback with promises to turn a ho- hum wardrobe into something flirty, and fashion forward with merely a toss around your neck or a wrap around your tresses.

From Balenciaga's runways to the ever trend setting TopShop storefronts, scarves are being worn in a bevy of ways adding flair and fun to the season's outfits. Ethnic scarves are going to be a major accesory this fall worn around the neck or waist giving women an exotic gypsy-esque look. These scarves can be worn casually with jeans or used to dress up a simple, little black, knit dress for the evening.

Other scarves that are being touted as must-haves for the fall and which work well for both casual and evening wear include sheer and vintage looks. Sheer scarves in this fall's hot color palette which includes, green, pink, metallics, cream and turqouise add a sophisticated and feminine touch to any ensemble. Vintage Pucci inspired prints are perfect for making a statement with or turning a classic outfit into something bold and head turning.

The traditional knit scarves are not to be left behind and are being worn in a skinnier version this fall as a layer over sweaters, under blazers and in warmer climates as a way to accessorize a simple white t-shirt or tank top. If you aren't a fan of wearing scarves around your neck, this season's runways were full of models wearing scarves of every shade and texture around their waists, wrapped around their wrists, as head bands and even as accents on fedora styled hats. Use scarves to show off your creativity and versatility. A wide scarf can be wrapped sarong style over skinny jeans or worn with leggings. Skinnier scarves can replace necklaces draped either delicately or simply tossed around your neck. Tie your hair back with a sheer scarf a la Sandra D. before she went "bad". Your options are unlimited!

While an Hermes scarf may leave you really anticipating your tax refund check, there is a plethora of inexpensive choices to be found in practically every store this season from Forever 21 to Target, and H&M and Zara. There's no excuse to miss out on one of this season's hottest accessory trends!
