Scary Halloween Recipes

When it comes to parties, it is always a great idea to theme up the goodies to help add some fun. Of course, each holiday you are set with different ways to get creative. For Christmas, it is always easy to simply change out the type of cookies that you want to serve or add to the menu. Halloween, its a little more different. You want to have fun, but, you don't really want to turn anyone off either.

If you are planning your next Halloween party and you want to have some great fun scary treats then you have come to the right place. Here are some quick and fun treats that are sure to make the kids jump a little when they wonder up to the snack table.

Bloody Fingers

You will need ready made pizza dough, a jar of pizza sauce, almond slivers baking sheet.

Heat the oven to 350 degrees. Take the pizza dough, lay out flat, then estimate how big the fingers should be, this will determine how many you can make out of the dough. With a knife, cut the dough into strips about the width of your finger. Then cut the strips to be approximately 2-3 inches in length. Roll them between your hands to make them look more like fingers. In one end, stick in a sliver of almond with the pointed end facing outwards.

Bake the fingers until lightly golden. Warm up your pizza sauce, On the end opposite the nail dip the finger, this will give the appearance of a cut off finger. Arrange them on a platter sprinkle lightly with a little cheese you are ready to go.

Night Crawler Soup

Who doesn't love chocolate pudding? Time to make the kids really giggle or say "EWWEEE".

You will need 2 large boxes of instant chocolate pudding, chocolate sandwich cookies, 2 bags of gummy worms, milk, a large bowl and a zipper bag.

In the zipper bag, place about 10 to 12 sandwich cookies. Seal the bag then smash the cookies into tiny pieces. In a large bowl, mix the 2 boxes of pudding according to instructions. If you wish to make the pudding a little runny add extra milk. Let set for a few minutes. Sprinkle the top of the pudding with the smashed cookies then stick in a bunch of worms. If this is for a small gathering, you can even do individual bowls for everyone.

Eyeball soup

This is a good dish to make for older kids. You never know they may even like the taste of it. This is a dish that you have to plan ahead a little bit.

Talk to your local butcher to see if they can get a hold of some cow eyeballs or goat eyeballs (they are smaller) If they can, you will need about a pound of the eyeballs.

You will need, 1 pound of ground beef, the eyeballs, beef broth, medium onion, small pasta noodle, canned chopped tomatoes.

In a large soup pan, brown your ground beef and onions. When ready add in water and broth, toss in the canned chopped tomatoes, let simmer for about 10 minutes, then add in the eyeballs and pasta, let cook until pasta is ready. Add salt, pepper and other spices for taste.

You may remember seeing similar soup in a movie that has Harrison Ford in it. Can you guess which one? I'll give you a hint, it was actually a series of movies he was in. You will laugh when you remember.

It is a good idea to serve the soup in regular bowls and you be the one to serve it so the kids don't see what is inside the soup until they begin to spoon it out. You don't have to eat the eyeballs they are just for affect, however the rest of the soup is delicious. Enjoy!

Brain sandwiches

This is a simple and quick way to create something scary. You will need rolls, shaved turkey, barbecue sauce and a squeeze bottle to serve it out of.

Cut your rolls in half, on the bottom half pile up the turkey so it is laying sort of like a brain, then using the sauce in a squeeze bottle carefully create squiggly lines that you might find inside the brain. Have the top part of the roll sitting near by, you are ready to go. Either serve the brains on a large platter or individual plates.

Eyeball Jell-o

This dish you will want to make at least a day ahead of time. This can be a tricky dish to make but in the end the results are amazing.

You will need a light color jell-o, lemon works great, eyeball jaw breakers that you can pick up at a specialty candy shop or order online. Don't forget a jell-o mold or use the ol' bunt pan.

Make the jello-o as usual, but be sure you use less water so that the mold will hold up properly. Begin chilling the jell-o so that it will set up nicely. When the jell-o has begun to be almost set but at the still sticky stage, insert the eyeballs. This will prevent them from sinking and make them appear to be suspended through out the jell-o.

When ready, serve on a platter for all your guests to see.

Creepy crawling ice

Here is a fun way to serve up that smoking punch. You will need to make these ahead of time. How about some creepy crawling ice cubes. You will need some fake plastic spider rings, red food coloring and ice trays.

Place a spider ring in each of the ice tray cups, add in a drop of food coloring then water, let set up. Place in the freezer to set. Depending on the number of guests you have, it is always good to figure about 2-3 cubes per guest.

Have the cups sitting ready with the Creepy ice already in them.

If you want to really creep the kids out, you can actually find candy stores online that will sell you chocolate covered bugs. You can get a wide range that are actually quite tasty. For example, chocolate covered grasshoppers. Or how about the different suckers that you find, having some of those sitting about will add a nice touch as well. You can find some that have scorpions in them, spiders, ants and much more.

If you are working with a young crowd of kids, create little name plates for the different food items, this will also help get you interesting reactions.

It is always a great idea to experiment a head of time. Be sure you play with your food ideas to see what you can come up with. You may surprise yourself at some of the creative ideas you have.

Happy Halloween!!!!
