The Queen Mary- Okay so technically this is not a house but it is a home to ghosts and boogie men and things that go bump in the night from October 1-3, 8-10, 15-17, 21-24, 27-31. Yes, even Halloween night folks! The event "Queen Mary's Dark Harbor" runs from 7pm to Midnight (the witching hour) and tickets are just $35.00. The Queen Mary is located at 1126 Queen's Highway, Long Beach. Parking is $15.00 Children under 13 are not recommended for this event. According to the Queen Mary "A trio of she-demons, each with their own realm of horror, will take over the ship and ensnare guests in a series of elaborate mazes." You can buy your tickets at Ticketmaster.com or at the door; either way it's $35.00. Or you can get a pass to take cuts in the line for $55.00 and be one of the first to be scared out of your wits. Irvine Park Railroad- This is a favorite place for kids of all ages, you can pick your own pumpkin, go on a train ride, get your face painted for Halloween, go in the Halloween Bounce House Jumper, Have mini-John Deer tractor races, and Best of All visit their Haunted House! The Irvine Park Railroad claims this haunted house is not too spooky for even the youngest visitors. [Writers note: sitting on Santa's lap isn't supposed to be too scary either; it depends on your child]. The haunted house is free with admission to the park. The Irvine Park Railroad and Haunted House are located at 1 Irvine Park Rd. Orange, CA 92869. Irvine Regional Parking Fees are weekdays-$3.00, Weekends $5.00 and Holidays $7.00. Halloween Harvest Festival at Pierce College featuring 'The Factory of Nightmares Haunted House' The Festival is going on from September 24 through October 31 and is located at 20800 Victory Blvd., Woodland Hills, CA 91367 Ticket pricing for The Factory of Nightmares Haunted House is $12.00 and includes admission to the Festival. This Festival is full of events for young and old alike- but the evening Factory of Nightmares Haunted House is best suited for children 13 years or older.

Mickey's Halloween Party at Disneyland Park including the ever popular Haunted Mansion Holiday. No decent list of the best haunted houses in Southern California would dare not to include one of the greatest events at 'The Happiest Place on Earth'. Each year, in September the Haunted Mansion is closed and transformed into Haunted Holiday Mansion. This colorful and delightful display of the Halloween spirit is based on Tim Burrton's, A Nightmare Before Christmas, available on Netflix and worth the watch before you go to this event. The Haunted Halloween Mansion is located in Disneyland Resort at 1313 S. Disneyland Drive, Anaheim, CA 92802 Disneyland park hours are usually from 10:00am to 8:00pm; however I suggest you go to their Schedule Here to find out about your particular day. The transformation of the Haunted House to The Haunted Mansion Holiday begins in late September and runs through New Year, where it is once again is turned back into the Haunted Mansion. Old Towne Haunt- Pasadena's Scariest Haunted House- As Legend has it; catacombs exist under the oldest building in Pasadena built in 1880. It resides at 20 N Raymond Pasadena, CA. It is rumored that the site was a former mission where prisoners were kept in the catacombs; they disappeared without trace or went insane. The people of the time thought it evil. Many bodily remains have reportedly been found at this Haunted site over the decades. But enough of the really scary morbid stuff; This place is about fun, though it is not for children except on two days, when the bank tones the scary stuff to kids between 7 and 12. Other than that it's grownups-ville and thrill time.     Love spooky hauntings. Some of these were a little out of my price range, especially when you factor in the cost of airfare and hotels ;)

    I was fortunate enough to take a tour of the Queen Mary, with my family last year. It is rather spooky, especially in the engine room, and by the anchors. In one part of the ship, you can see the anchor actually in the water. It was kinda scary..LOL..I almost felt as if something was going to come up out the water in there..LOL =0)

    Neat! I'm a wimp.. I haven't been to a haunted house since I've been a teenager! - my daughter is the exact opposite of me though~!

    Lots of choices! I've never taken my kids to a haunted house. Most of them here are NOT fit for young children.
