Scary Skeleton Hand Halloween Craft Guide

Amy Stepp
I love craft projects, especially the ones that you can get the little ones involved in. This is a great craft project for ages 4 and up and it will even teach them about the human body as they get into the Halloween spirit!

Step One:
You will need black construction paper. Trace your hand (help the little ones out if they need it) onto the black paper. The best writing utensil to use to show up the hand traced is either a white crayon or white chalk. Once the hands are traced (you can either do both hands or just one) then cut them out.

If you are doing this as a class project, turn the hand over and make sure the child writes their name on the back of the hand with either the white crayon or chalk before continuing to step two.

Step Two:
Head on over to www.kappamedical.com/extremities_-_hands.htm and find the right picture that you will want to help you and the people who are doing this project get a visual image for the hands.

Step Three:
With uncooked pasta noodles place the noodles on the hands like the picture shows. Remember each finger has three bones in each. You can use spaghetti noodles, however you will have to cut them in thirds for this project. I recommend Penne pasta because they are shorter, and will give your skeleton hand the 3D affect you will want to have. Glue the noodles in place onto the black construction paper with either a glue stick, or hot glue gun. If you want a more secure glue hold then use super glue.

Step Four:
Give the glue time to dry. It won't hurt to leave them sit out over night just so you can have the firm secureness with the pasta. After the glue has dried get some blood red paint and the smallest art paint brush you can find and paint red lines all over the pasta. This will represent blood. On the ends of the fingertips cover completely in blood paint for a really dramatic affect.

Step Five:
Once the paint is dry you can either punch a hole with a hole punch in the bottom of the hand on the black construction paper, thread a piece of yarn through it and hang it around for decorations.

Another thing you can do is on the back of the construction paper, you can glue Popsicle sticks and have the skeletons hands be used as a Halloween craft you can play with! The uses for this Halloween craft project are endless!

Have fun with it and make sure even if you use this guide to making your own Scary Halloween Skeleton Hands, that you put your own twist on it so it can have your own personal touch as well!
