Scented potpourri balls are easy to make and smell amazing. When you add them to a pretty container, their colors and textures make a lovely display. Place them in the foyer to greet your guests with an inviting aroma. Keep the bathroom smelling fresh by placing the scented potpourri balls in a wicker basket. In the dining room a fancy bowl filled with the scented potpourri balls make a beautiful center piece. You can also add a ribbon to the scented potpourri balls so they can be hung in the closet to freshen clothes, on a bed post or just about anywhere you choose. Just follow the easy directions below.

Materials

3" or 4" plastic foam craft balls
quick dry adhesive
dried potpourri mix
bay leaves
dried fruit rinds
eucalyptus leaves, etc.

To start: lay newspaper on a flat work surface. Empty the bag of potpourri on to the newspaper and spread it out, remove the really large pieces that are some times included. Next squeeze an ample amount of the adhesive on to a paper plate. Take a butter knife or a Popsicle stick if you have one and spread one of the balls with the adhesive. Stick a pencil into the foam on each side of the ball, to use as handles. Roll the ball through the potpourri, covering as much of the surface as possible. Set aside to dry. Once dry, add a dab of adhesive to some potpourri and use to fill in any bare spots. Your scented potpourri ball is finished and ready to display.

To make a eucalyptus ball. Strip the leaves from several dried eucalyptus stems and follow the directions above. To apply bay leaves or dried fruits it is best to add these items one at a time. You can use the above adhesive or hot glue on these. Add a dab of glue and place on the back of the element you are adding to the ball, continue the procedure overlapping the pieces until the entire ball has been covered.

To add a ribbon poke a small hole into the foam with a pencil. Add hot glue and both ends of a 12" ribbon to the hole, pushing in the ribbon ends with the pencil. Cover any bare surface with the elements used to create the ball. Over time as the aroma begins to fade you can refresh your scented potpourri balls with drops of scented oils. Small bottles of scented oils can be purchased at craft stores as well as some department stores.

These are just a few items you can use to create scented potpourri balls. You can also decorate them with natural elements found in nature.Like colorful fall leaves, miniature pine cones, acorns etc. Just use your imagination to come up with more unique and heavenly scented decorative balls.
