Schedule of Dreamworks' Upcoming Animated Films

Lee Andrew Henderson
When it comes to animated films Pixar and Disney get most of the attention but Dreamworks has been a big power in the film scene for the better part of a decade. Dreamworks has produced an animated film that has landed in the top 11 highest grossing films of the year for each of the past seven years. Dreamworks doesn't plan to slow down any time soon with nine animated films slated for the next four years.

"Kung Fu Panda 2"
Release Date: May 26th, 2011
In 2008 "Kung Fu Panda" was the sixth highest grossing film of the year and actually only fell $8 million short of Pixar's "Wall-E". This summer Po is back and you can pencil "Kung Fu Panda 2" in for a sure $200 million.

"Puss In Boots"
Release Date: November 4th, 2011
Finally the Shrek series has been put out of its misery but the franchise lives on with a Puss In Boots spin-off. Only time will tell if Puss grosses as much money as the Shrek movies but smart money says nobody out grosses Shrek.

"Madagascar 3"
Release Date: June 8th, 2012
The first Madagascar film seemed pretty forgettable but it still grossed $193 at the box office. I'm not sure who was begging for a sequel but Dreamworks made the sequel and were able to put another $180 million in their pockets. "Madagascar 3" will probably have a similar drop in gross but is still plenty to warrant a sequel in Dreamworks' eyes.

"Rise of the Guardians"
Release Date: November 21st, 2012
Dreamworks hit the jackpot with Shrek and his fairytale friends and it seems they have a similar plan with "Rise of the Guardians". The film will be based on books by William Joyce and the story is about childhood fairytale characters such as Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny and Jack Frost teaming up to defeat the despicable Boogeyman.

"The Croods"

"The Croods" stars Nicholas Cage who voices a caveman named Grug. Grug must uproot his family and find a new place to live after an earthquake forces the move. long the way they meet a genius nomad (Ryan Reynolds) that uses his imagination to come up with several clever inventions.

"Turbo"
Release Date: June 7th, 2013
"Turbo" also stars Ryan Reynolds. This time Reynolds is a regular garden slug that decides to travel the world and race other slugs to prove that he is the fastest slug in the world.

"Me and My Shadow"
Release Date: November 8th, 2013
"Me and My Shadow" tells the story of the shadows living in shadow world. There is one rule in shadow world. Every shadow must follow the human they belong to. Shadow Stan decides to break this rule when the human that he is following turns out to be really boring. Shadow Stan then decides he will be the one to lead and Stanley Grubb will have to follow him.

"Mr. Peabody & Sherman"
Release Date: March 21st, 2014
Mr. Peabody is a character that frequently appeared in segments during Rocky and Bullwinkle. Mr. Peabody is a genius dog that has a boy named Sherman as a pet. In the original Mr. Peabody was voiced by Bill Scott and Walter Tetley but in the film version Mr. Peabody will be voiced by Robert Downey Jr.
