For the past 35 years, the annual Schertz Jubilee celebrating the 4th of July has been a time-honored, and much anticipated event. People from Schertz, Cibolo, Selma, Universal City, Marion, Converse, Live Oak, and even San Antonio mark this occasion on their calendars as a 'can't miss'!
This year, due to drought conditions, a burn ban has been placed on Guadalupe and surrounding counties. This means that the annual fireworks show had to be canceled for safety concerns. But the show must go on; and what a show it will be!
Sponsored by Grumpy's Mexican Cafe, this year's show will be a Star Spangled Laser Spectacular! The Schertz Parks and Recreation Department has contracted with Laser Spectacular, the company that puts on the Pink Floyd laser show each year in San Antonio. It will be like a concert in the park (Pickrell Park) with all kinds of food, live music, dancing, and a carnival. It just doesn't get any better than that.
The Schertz Jubilee is a four day event beginning at 6:00 p.m. Friday night, July 1st, and ending with the Star Spangled Laser Spectacular Monday, July 4th, between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Come on out and celebrate and/or participate in the Schertz 36th Annual 4th of July Jubilee.
