Start out the process of designing a cover page by writing up a list of most important and impressive accomplishments. This will give the applicant a good idea of what they would like to include on their cover page and what types of pictures that they might want to include. There are several things to keep in mind when starting to design a cover sheet. Its purpose is to catch the attention of the committee not to be over bearing.
The pictures that are added to the cover sheet should be picture color and should be printed on high quality picture paper. The pictures should be of the student competing at high school events or at events for activities that they were involved in high school. The pictures should not be of a large group but of the student alone or with a maximum of two other people. Additionally a senior picture should be one of the pictures. If only one picture is used it should be a senior picture because it is a traditional representation of a senior in high school is a great picture of the student.
Some ideas for making the cover page stand out include the use of a theme, a cutting effect or of a color scheme. Some themes that work great for a cover page include: a magazine cover, the front page of a newspaper, a yearbook page or any other theme that seems fitting to a students interests and accomplishments in high school. The use of a cutting effect can make a dramatic effect in a very simple and elegant way. Some simple ideas for cutting the cover page to make it more impressive are by cutting it diagonally in half or in half in another way, rounding the corners, cutting the edges with decorative scissors or by attaching a semi transparent page over the pictures.
By making the cover page a unique and elegant representation of a students high school experience the committee is more likely to not just pass by the students application and the committee will also have a greater feel for who the student is and if they are right for their college or scholarship.
