School Closings and Delays in New Jersey Due to Flooding

As of Sunday night, March 14, 2010, Governor Chris Christie has declared a State of Emergency due to the flooding and loss of power to many NJ residents. Many schools have already announced that they are closed, while others have only announced a delayed opening. As of 11:51 pm on Sunday night, these are the schools that are made such announcements. The list is likely to expand as there is more rain expected throughout Monday in most of the state:

Middlesex County

South Brunswick schools are closed.

Those in Middlesex County were advised not to consume tap water unless it was boiled beforehand after the local plant was contaminated by flooding rainwater.

Somerset County

Manville Township schools have a 2 hour delayed opening.

Bound Brook schools are closed.

Mercer County

Princeton Regional Schools are closed for students and staff, but will remain open for administrators, office support, and secretaries.

Passaic County

Pompton Lakes Schools are closed.

Bloomingdale will have a delayed opening.

Bergen County

Dumont School District is closed.

Alpine Schools will be closed.

Emerson Public School District is closed.

Englewood City Public Schools will be closed.

Glen Rock Pubic Schools are closed.

Ridgewood Public Schools are closed.

Hackensack Public Schools are closed.

New Milford Schools are closed.

Teaneck Public Schools are closed.

Essex

Nutlety schools will have a delayed opening

Morris County

Monvtille Schools will be closed.
