School Valentine Party Ideas

Hard working students deserve more Valentine's Day fun than dancing to love songs around some red and pink tablecloths and holiday cupcakes. Here are some school Valentine party ideas that may help to attract more student participation.

Valentine's Day Wedding Re-enactment
Invite students to sign up and secure their place in a wedding reenactment that takes place at school. Partner with student council members to create a humorous set of wedding vows for the student bride and groom to make. Assign one student as a wedding officiant for this ceremony and plan the nuptials in advance to your school party. Purchase Valentine's Day themed flowers for the bridal party, one pair of toy wedding rings, wedding decorations and reception decorations. Create invitations to give faculty and students who will be attending this school Valentine party.

Choose a menu and cake for the reception and select music for both parts of the wedding. This play wedding theme is one of many school Valentine party ideas that can be planned in a variety of ways. One historic wedding can be planned or you can pretend to marry the highest academic achievers or sports team captains. The vows can be funny poems or phrases that are relevant to school such as "I promise to honor and support my fellow school teams through mid-terms and finals, until graduation do us part". A funny poem could be written as "I, cheerleading captain of this school tonight, promise to stop booing the junior varsity football team and attacking them in food fights".

Use your wedding ceremony as an introduction into the actual school Valentine party. The reception will serve as your Valentine's Day party for school but should also feature popular wedding activities such as introductions, cake cutting and toasts to the bride and groom. Get a faculty member to help oversee your school party planning activities if it becomes overwhelming.

Celebrity Valentine's Party Theme
Take the pressure off of finding dates by hosting a celebrity Valentine's Day party. Students dress up as their favorite celebrity couples for this school activity. Introduce a formal dress code that requires students to select costumes that reflect their chosen celebrities at awards ceremonies such as the Grammy, Espy or Golden Globe awards. Make an exception for students who choose celebrities that are unlikely to dress formally in real life but require them to wear Valentine's Day colors. A pair of students who come as Kid Rock or Tommy Lee for one Pamela Anderson couple could wear fake love themed tattoos.

The party host can request students to sign up for this event using their real names and celebrity alter egos. Celebrity couples can also be assigned to students or randomly selected by number or picking tags out of a large bowl. Setup the school Valentine party with lots of lights and Hollywood themed decorations. Add red, pink and white balloons near the school party entrance with one red carpet. Students who do not want to participate as a celebrity couple can still be a part of this school valentine party idea.

Instruct one or two students to interview guests as they arrive on the red carpet. Another student can also videotape this school party for entertainment purposes. If you are using a camera, get a VCR, DVD player, projector or compatible playback unit to display the finished video throughout the party. The video can also be used as a student fundraiser, making this one of the most beneficial school Valentine party ideas.
