Schwarzenegger Won't Offer Paris Hilton a Pardon

No Get Out of Jail Card For Paris

Rachel Bogart
As the entire country, and perhaps world, knows, Paris Hilton is headed to jail. A judge announced that she must be behind bars on June 5th, 2007 and serve a full 45 days. The same judge also said that Paris can not do community service instead, pay for the jail of her own choice, or be under house arrest. However, Paris, her lawyer, her friends, and her family have vowed to do everything in their power so that Paris will not have to go to jail, or at least serve the full 45 days (which was knocked down from 90 originally). Currently, an appeal is in process, and now speculation over an online petition started by a friend of Paris is circulating the web. Paris has even gone as far as to beg for help from friends in high places. The hotel heiress herself has recently endorsed the full online petition directed to California's own governor, Mr. Arnold Schwarzenegger, also known as the "Governator." The petition begs for a pardon from the sentenced 45 days behind bars in a women's jail in Lynwood, California. This petition was started by her party pal, Joshua Morales. As news spread, word got to Governor Schwarzenegger who made a statement about the issue. Schwarzenegger said at a news conference that he has not received any petition from Paris Hilton or her friends. He also stated that he does not have time for the issue and is busy with more important matters that do not deal with Hollywood and its constant drama.

"I have never gotten a request," he said. "But I have many more important things to think about."

Whether or not Schwarzenegger will receive the petition at all is unknown, but it is almost sure that he will not grant her the pardon and that she will have to rely on serving hard time or appeal the decision of her court case. The appeal itself is in process. In fact, many believe Paris may not serve her time. In addition to Schwarzenegger speaking openly about the issue at a California news conference, many news shows have debated whether she should go to prison or not. Right now on the web there are several competing petitions fighting for Paris' freedom from jail.

In other Paris news, the publicist, Elliot Mintz, who she fired within days of being given her sentence, has been rehired by the Hollywood socialite.

I have to agree with Brandon about what a waste of humanity Paris Hilton is. I'm quite happy to see that she's finally getting what she deserves; any member of the general public would've been screwed long before this, upon the first violation of probation and not the third. My faith in our justice system will be done for if she gets off the hook for this.

Also, the South Park episode poking fun at her is a riot.
