Schwinn 140 Upright Exercise Bike Review

Jamie Cortez
If you need to get back in shape but hate the idea of going to the gym in bad weather then having you own exercise machine would be a good choice. The Schwinn 140 upright exercise bike is an affordable piece of exercise machine that you can use daily. If you're interested in buying this machine you should read the following list of its pros and cons.

Pros

Out of the box this machine is easy to assemble. The manual is descriptive and easy to follow. And since you also given all the tools required you can have it assembled in about an hour or less.

This unit looks well-built and the frame feels sturdy. The display is backlit and has multiple colors so it's easy to read. The controls are easy to use even if you've never use an upright exercise bike before. The bike already has pre-programmed profiles but if you want to create your own the process is simple and fully laid out in the manual.

The different resistance levels are adequate for a wide range of exercise. The first level doesn't feel like an exercise at all but when you set it on the 16th level this machine can put up a real fight.

Pedaling this upright exercise feels smooth and the seat is comfortable and wide. It is quiet too. It's a big plus if you enjoy watching DVD while exercising.

Cons

Although the overall assembly is easy installing the handle bar is quite tricky due to the cables. You may need a couple of tries to get it right.

You also need to note that this fitness bike is not built for tall people. If you're more than 6 foot tall your knees will hit the handle bars. Tall people should go with the Schwinn 240 which is more "spacious".

Conclusion

If you want to save money when buying an exercise bike you should buy the Schwinn 140 instead of his big brother the Schwinn 240. It got all the health benefits of its big bro but cost $100 less (plus it's easier to assemble). The major difference between the two is the seat. The seat for Schwinn 240 resembles a car seat so if you have a weak back or just want to have "lazy" exercise the Schwinn 240 would be better. However if what you really want is an exercise bike that feels like a real bicycle the Schwinn 140 upright exercise bike is the clear winner.
