Pros
This exercise bike looks pretty nice and compact with sturdy-looking frames. It also got wheels so you can easily move it around and handle on the backside which makes lifting easy. There is a cup holder on the console which much more reachable than under-seat cup holder. There's also a basket where you can keep your magazines and other stuff you usually keep close when exercising (like the TV remote).
The resistance levels are excellent. You can set it as an easy ride for seniors with weak knees or as hard as possible when you need a challenge. It has more programs compared to other models With 17 programs and 16 resistance levels this machine is usable for a wide range of people with different exercise preferences. It can also remember use specific settings and information.
Pedaling feels smooth on this exercise bike. The seat can be reclined so when you're feeling kind of lazy you can still exercise while lying on your back. It is very quiet too. It doesn't squeak, roar or screech. If you like to watch TV when exercising you won't be bothered with the sound coming from this machine.
One neat thing about this machine is that it has no On/Off button. After you're done exercising you can just walk away and it will turn itself off.
Cons
Out of the box this fitness bike requires assembly. Unfortunately even though the manual is rich in illustrations it lacks explanation. The parts list is a bit confusing because some of the parts are already attached to the bike's frame. If you've never assembled an exercise bike before it can take you hours to assemble this machine. It would be better if you get someone who can help you with the assembly instead of forcing yourself to do it alone.
You must also note the bike's serial number, placed on the bottom of the rear stabilizer, before assembling this unit. You're going to need that for registering the bike. Trying to read the number after the bike's fully assembled is quite annoying.
Conclusion
All in all the Schwinn 240 is a reasonably-priced recumbent exercise bike. It's rich in features, well-designed, quiet and will be a great help in boosting your fitness. If you've never had an exercise bike before or you're looking for a replacement for your old exercise bike this is the one you should get. The assembly is a pain but once you put the pieces together it is an excellent piece of exercise equipment for daily use.
