Pros
Schwinn is a well known manufacturer of durable exercise bikes. The Airdyne is no exception. The frame of this bike is made by high quality steel welded and stamped together to ensure optimum strength. When you ride on it you can really feel just how stable this bike is.
When you use an Airdyne you can also work out your upper body. Since the handles are connected to the pedals your arms, chest and shoulders are "forced" to do some workout too.
While most exercise bikes use magnetic or mechanical resistance method the Schwinn Airdyne uses air resistance flywheel. Thank to that it does not need complex mechanism to increase or decrease the resistance. Simply put if you pedal faster the air resistance is increased and if you go slower the resistance is reduced. This lack of complex machineries means the bike is less prone to defects thus it will work well much longer than bikes that uses magnetic or mechanical resistance feature.
Cons
The Schwinn Airdyne comes unassembled and assembly is a huge pain. You only get poor assembly manual with poor graphics and instructions. Your best bet is to go to get someone knowledgeable to put it together for you. The assembled unit is both bulky and heavy. Even though it has small wheels to help you move it but you still need great effort to move this machine around.
An Airdyne is an air-resistance bike so it's pretty noisy when used. It's definitely not the right choice if you prefer to exercise while watching TV. The wind generated by the wheel is hard enough to blow dust and dirt around so you need to make sure the area where you put this machine is well-vacuumed before exercising.
Conclusion
The Schwinn Airdyne is big, heavy and noisy but if you want an exercise machine that would last years and years this is definitely it. It's good for your cardio and it moves your upper as well as your lower body. It is a little expensive (about $650) but it is a lot better that it's competitors on the same price range.
